# *Astro Bot* is Apparently a Banger A little Astro Bot love here on the day of embargo. Of course, I shave to share the DF review. Spec wise, a solid 4K60. Game wise, a masterfully executed 3D platformer. [Astro Bot Review: 2024's Most Adorable Game Is Also One of Its Best](https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/astro-bot-review-ps5-playstation/) by Logan Moore for Comicbook.com >...*Astro Bot* is a natural extension of everything that was seen in *Astro's Playroom* which is the pack-in game that launched in tandem with the PlayStation 5. The level structure of *Astro Bot* is similar to Playroom as is its focus on PlayStation's hardware and history. Scattered throughout its many colorful worlds are numerous callbacks to famous PlayStation icons (Kratos from God of War, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, etc.) alongside many others that only the most hardcore fans might recognize. Coincidentally, I was in town visiting Logan while he was reviewing the game. I saw the first two galaxies. The game is chock full of joy and delight. I only played a smidge, but the controls and DualSense are just as good as they were at the PS5 launch with *Astro's Playroom*. It's a great example of what a studio can do with a bigger budget and lots of time to explore and flesh out ideas. But we also saw this four years ago. It feels more akin to *Super Mario Galaxy 2* to *Super Mario Galaxy*, not *Galaxy* to *Super Mario Odyssey*. I'm sure the full game and chasing the Platinum will be fun and I can't wait to (hopefully) get a copy for Christmas, but like Logan, I wonder where Team Asobi will take Astro next. From both of these reviews and my own brief experience with the game, I am reminded of Nintendo. The way Team Asobi expertly leverages the hardware to amplify the platformer is top tier design. It's a marriage of hardware and software and game design that is legendary. Sony needs to hold on to this talent and foster it even further.
