# *Pokémon LeafGreen* Notes
*[[Pokémon LeafGreen Version]]* is a remake of the original *Pokémon* titles (*Red*, *[[Pokémon Blue Version|Blue]]*, and *Yellow*) for the Game Boy Advance. It paved the way for the remakes in the series utilizing assets and mechanics from the current iteration. The quality of life improvements are nice and the connectivity with future generations made it a foundation for Gen 1 Pokémon, which probably has been replaced by *Pokémon Let's Go: Pikachu* and *Pokémon Let's Go: Eevee* these days.

## Stats
- Started playing on 4/8/22
- Beat on 5/27/22
- Time - 26:58:00
### Legacy
- What else can you say?
### Overall
- “Biggest objective” is player experiencing personal growth!
- How warm of a game and story. I’ve never played *Blue* like this. I feel swept up in memory and childhood.
- Kinda surprised how motivated I am to be grindy/team building in the late game.
### World
- Exactly like I remember.
- Talking to everyone and exploring homes helps quite a bit.
- I hate caves
- Silph Co is a maze. Kinda glad I didn’t use a guide for it.
- I like the clockwise world navigation. Makes it fairly straight forward on where you need to go next. Only divergence is the center with left or right options. Means you can miss Fly and do gyms “out of order.”
- Surprised you can skip the power plant?! And Zapdos is there now?
- Maybe this just proves how much time childhood Max had…
### Story
- So far, the same as I remember.
- Some of these one liners are very funny to me now as an adult
### Graphics
- GBA style is sharp, especially upscaled on TV.
### Music
- Gym battle theme hype
- Themes are the jams I know
- This Team Rocket hideout theme is sinister and dank. Big thumbs up
### Gameplay
- Wonder when I get those running shoes.
- Second town after first badge. Good.
- Battles are hard? Or I just have a small, weak team.
- Surprised how tough the game’s intro is. The Route 3 > Mt Moon trek is grueling. Not great wild Pokémon either for building a decent team at the start. Kind of a struggle.
- And now by the third gym I’ve hit a stride. Three 20+ Pokémon on the team. Still need diverse types, but now we cruising.
- Why is “confusion” not a status effect
- Seems to have some mid game openness. Silph Co? Snorlax? They do guide you – one of the gyms is blocked by Rocket.
- Still some difficulty curves. Particularly with the rival. And I’m not avoiding fights like I usually do
- Gym 5 is spicy
- The longer routes between cities are designed to stretch your team. PP is low. Health is low. It’s a stretch. Training your team. Makes reaching that Pokémon center elate.
- I entirely skipped fly…
- End game grind is so slow and bad. Way to kill pacing. The spike to the Elite 4 is a brick wall. Not a fun one.
