Heads up: I wrote this review from my perspective as an Uncharted fan. There was more to The Lost Legacy that I wanted to discuss than how it plays or looks. Due to this desire to dig deeper, this review contains spoilers for The Lost Legacy. Please read this after beating the game. It’ll take you six to eight hours. Not long at all.
The legacy of the Uncharted franchise is anything but lost. The strength and allure of Nathan Drake’s adventures grips their audience from beginning to end. Uncharted is essential to not only the PlayStation brand, but the video game industry at large as the developer, Naughty Dog, has proven to push the medium forward.
When Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launched last year, Naughty Dog was adamant about it being Nathan Drake’s last adventure. Sticking to their guns, A Thief’s End wrapped up Nate’s story perfectly. I was so enamored with A Thief’s End after my journey that it cemented itself as my favorite game to date (and it still is).
As Naughty Dog began to approach the promised single player DLC, the studio asked itself one question—”Could we make an Uncharted without Nathan Drake?” Thus, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was born. It is an interesting question to ask about a beloved series, especially from a studio as prolific and talented as Naughty Dog.
At a distance, Firewatch is a good looking package. It has a gorgeous art style, stellar acting, an allure of mystery and intrigue. When pulling back the layers of the orange and yellow hued packaging, there is a grounded story of one man’s lot in life. Campo Santo’s debut game has stuck with me like sap on a tree; it’s careful cultivation of story, world design, and themes seep out of the digital cracks to create a deeply rooted first person experience.
Game exclusivity blows. Today’s Tomb Raider news at Xbox’s Gamescom press conference was the straw that broke the camel’s back. How is this fair to the consumer at all? It’s not. Corporate puppet masters are pulling strings to raise profits as they strip a product away from select audiences. They are punishing consumers for not owning their game box.
And yet, I am a hypocrite. I love exclusive titles. The Last Of Us is my favorite game of all time, which is exclusive to PlayStation products. As I think about it, if Joel and Ellie made the jump to Xbox or PC, I would feel a tad betrayed. Then I realize that thousands more get to experience a game that moved my heart and soul. It is not fair that Xbox gamers can’t play The Last Of Us.
Right now, the Xbox One sales cower in the shadow of PS4 sales. PC gaming is as large as ever. None of this makes sense to me as a smart business move. Square Enix is actively cutting out 2/3 of it’s potential profit. Obviously, Microsoft is writing a huge check to Square, but is that number worth the unavoidable loss in sales. Kotaku has complied responses to this morning’s announcement; It’s no surprise that gamers feel cheated. Top notch artist, @Pandamusk, captures perfectly how the community feels at large right now.
There does seem to be some miscommunication about the exclusivity of the title. Official statements say “exclusive on Xbox for Holiday 2015.” Clearly, that leaves some hope for fans and gamers all around. This problem isn’t only about exclusive games. What about exclusive DLC or portions of gameplay? GameStop has even been discovered to try and secure exclusive chunks of final games, not just missions. Exclusive costumes, missions, characters, collectibles, and editions need to stop. Gamers are the most passionate fans I have ever encountered. We are die hards for the games. When companies strip our passions from us, it’s hard not to feel cut out. I’m a gamer too. If you’re reading this, you most likely are too. Exclusive content needs to stop.
The best way to prove this to the corporate puppet masters is to stop pre-ordering for exclusive content. As the consumer, we need to speak with our wallets. Petitions will not stop contract agreements. We hold the power within our hands. If we don’t buy it, companies won’t produce these exclusivity barriers. We can do it. Break down the walls of exclusivity and let’s help bring games to gamers.
I admired Bungie’s goal and mission for their new space saga. A vast digital universe filled with unique, diverse players that are constantly connected is something to be admired in the gaming space (ba da chhhh). The game just did not appeal to me.
I am not a FPS fan. I don’t care for character creation. I certainly prefer to play alone for most games.
What made my passive attitude toward Destiny even more surprising (to myself) is that a vast majority of the gaming community is eagerly awaiting destiny to let them play Bungie’s newest game (last one, I swear). People are stoked to shoot aliens in first person vicariously through their own, user generated character with friends and strangers alike.
When Sony gave all the attendees of the “E3 Sony Experience” access to the brief and PS4 exclusive Alpha for Destiny, I challenged Destiny and Bungie to make a lasting first impression. They met that challenge with an alarmingly fierce sense of direction, beauty, and wonder.
I am sold on Destiny.
From Thursday, June 12 at 12:00 PM PST through Sunday, June 15 at 11:59 PM PST Bungie granted a small pool of PS4 owners the ability to try a slice of Destiny. Featuring one story mission, a few side quests, a raid, a public event, the central hub, and one VS mode, the Destiny First Look Alpha took me by the hand, like a child in a theme park, and decided to give me the grand tour.
The road to Metal Gear Solid V has been a long one. The end of Metal Gear Solid 4 was a perfect note to end the main story on, but there is always more to tell about Big Boss and Snake. Hideo Kojima surprised the industry with the announcement of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2012. This game has been designed to bridge the gap for Big Boss’ story between the PSP title, Peace Walker, and Meal Gear Solid 1. The new game boasts Kojima’s brand new FOX Engine, with photo-realism in mind. To hold fans over until The Phantom Pain’s release in 2015, Konami asked Kojima to release the prologue of the game separately. This is where Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes comes into play.

Welcome! Wow, this is the first post of 2014. I’m sorry if this seems a little late, but I have such exciting news! Go Left Gaming has been pushing the multimedia aspect of journalism on its YouTube and Twitch channels. Content includes weekly vlogs, live streams, and walk through videos. It’s super exciting to be creating the content and learning about this aspect of the industry. As a part of this multimedia push, Go Left Gaming is hosting a live stream of The Last Of Us‘ DLC, Left Behind and the factions multiplayer mode!
The stream will be held on March 4, 2014 at 6:00 PM EST! That is when I will start the Left Behind DLC from start to finish with all the collectibles and conversations. This will be a ton of fun. A little bit before and for quite some time after the DLC, I will play The Last Of Us online multiplayer.
Also, as a part of the stream, to share my love of The Last Of Us and it’s brand new DLC there will be a giveaway! A total of three prizes will be given away! There are-

It truly is an exciting time to be a gamer. The next generation of console gaming is upon us. Hundreds of games are being made for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With the launch of the PS4 just one day away, I invited Mitchell Morgan to write a piece for Go Left Gaming’s PS4 Launch Week. Mitchell decided to about the games you need to keep on your radar, despite the lack of news and being over shadowed by huge first-party launch titles. So without further ado, here are games you need to keep an eye on.
Sony has taken an interesting route during the week’s building up to the PlayStation 4’s launch. They have removed the street dates on all titles and peripherals, allowing consumers to go buy what they would like before the PS4 is out. In my opinion, this is a smart move. It builds even more hype for the launch, letting gamers stare at game boxes and useless add-ons. But there is one that is not entirely useless. That would be the DualShock 4, the brand new controller for Sony’s new system. Customers may buy the DualShock 4 and hold it and get a real taste of what the next generation will feel like. BEYOND that, the DS4 even works with the PS3 in some capacity, allowing users to play first-party games with the controller plugged in. This is the closest taste the public has to the next generation’s feel and let me tell you it feels mighty good.
Just moments after I sat down to write this nostalgic article, my girlfriend found a micro USB cable at her house. That was the crucial piece I needed to make my brand new DualShock 4 controller work with my PS3, just a mere sixteen days before the PlayStation 4 launch in North America. That was over an hour ago. Today was a #PlayStationMemory for me.
Back on February 20, 2013, Sony had a press conference to reveal the future of PlayStation. The hype was palpable all over the web. Memories and nostalgia swept through gamers like a tidal wave and a hashtag was created to share those intimate moments gamers had with PlayStation; #PlayStationMemories. The hashtag took Twitter by storm and everyone was BEYOND excited for the new hardware reveal.
Then 25 days before the launch in North America, Sony released a commercial of sorts, inspired by the viral hashtag. The video was titled #4thePlayers.
The video took gamers on a long trip down memory lane, taking the hype for the next generation of PlayStation to new heights.
Now here we are, just FOUR days away from Sony’s next home console. New memories are bound to be born as the next generation of console gaming takes flight, but I wanted to take a moment and take one more good long look back on gaming with PlayStation throughout the years. I want to share with you my five favorite gaming memories with PlayStation at their core. Let’s look back in time at all the crazy adventures I’ve had with Sony by my side.

Kingdom Hearts Missed an Entire Console Generation
And Why that is a Good Thing

I am a long time Kingdom Hearts fan. The moment I laid eyes on Kingdom Hearts I at my friend’s house in the first grade I fell in love. Since that fateful moment I have followed the series fervently. I remember my first encounter with every entry; all eight of them. Yes, there are eight Kingdom Hearts games. So why was Kingdom Hearts III JUST announced, over a decade later? Because one of the Kingdom Hearts franchise’s “trademarks” is spin-off games. Due to the six spin-offs, Kingdom Hearts has missed an entire home console generation. Now I am aware that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix is coming out to the Americas on September 10, 2013, but those are simply HD remakes of three of the entries (although there was nothing simple about recreating them in HD). Fans of the franchise haven’t seen a brand new, numbered entry eight years! And as a fan, I believe that this is a good thing. Here is why Kingdom Hearts missing an entire console generation is the right call for the franchise.
Guys. Today has been a long day for me. Not because of E3, but because of college orientation being an all day event. I was only able to catch one press conference live today, Sony Entertainment. Wow, what a show. I can’t possibly write up about all the things that wowed the crowd. There is only one thing I wish to write about before I go to bed for day 2 of my orientation. From Crash Bandicoot with its colorful, cartoon levels to the cinematic adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake, Naughty Dog always makes a world that you want to be in. The Last of Us seems to be the pinnacle of 19 years of creating worlds with an immersive atmosphere.
