Enjoy. --- Hello everybody and welcome to Chapter Select, a seasonal podcast where we bounce back and forth between a series exploring their evolution design and legacy. *00:00* And for season four. *00:10* We're we're getting together with family because we're covering the fast and the furious. *00:13* My name is Max Roberts, and I am joined as always by Logan Moore. *00:18* Hi Logan. *00:21* Family, family, family, family, family. *00:22* That that's my only exposure to this film series is the trailers. *00:27* And uh the memes. *00:30* That's about it. *00:32* That's all I know coming into this. *00:33* I'm so excited to bring you into the fold of the fast family. *00:35* For the first time here on Chapter Select, we are doing movie series. *00:40* We kind of wrote about it when we announced them a few weeks ago, but *00:45* The idea is movies have a lower dedication of time, which then is going to allow us to create a more ambitious season five, which is going to be Resident Evil for the front half of 2023. *00:49* But the Fast and the Furious is special, and if you've if you've seen these movies, you know how special they are. *01:02* But Logan, like he said, has never seen these movies except the first one. *01:06* And Tokyo Drift. *01:12* Yeah, yeah. *01:14* Well and we'll talk about those in the respective episodes, but I've definitely seen parts of Tokyo Drift. *01:15* I don't know if I ever finished it, and then I watched the first one. *01:19* Last year, I believe, for the first time. *01:24* Because I was like, I'm gonna watch all of these finally. *01:25* And then I watched the first one and I never continued that journey. *01:27* So now we'll continue that journey in the form of hashtag content. *01:30* Yes. *01:35* But I have always wanted to share these movies with Logan. *01:35* I always thought it would be fun because he has little exposure to the the grandiose nature that is family. *01:39* I think what's funny is over the years, every time I've told people that I've never seen these movies before, they're always really, really shocked by that because *01:49* Knowing we're not m my friends specifically knowing how they know my personal taste, they're like, you would like these a lot. *01:58* Why have you not seen them? *02:05* Because you like very stupid things. *02:06* Uh so of course you would like this. *02:09* And I'm like, I don't know, just never got around to it. *02:10* There are some moments. *02:13* There's actually a video I have saved for for later in the season for you to watch, honestly, maybe after like *02:14* the seventh movie or uh maybe even after it all because it describes why these movies work so well and it's just there are moments I don't want to spoil for you, that they're just lines and scenes I know *02:20* you are going to love so much. *02:33* That's good. *02:36* I'm it yeah, I'm excited to I'm excited to watch all of these. *02:37* I'm excited that you're excited to rewatch all of these because this very much is *02:40* The inverse. *02:44* And we've what's funny is we've we've already talked about how we're doing Resident Evil early next year. *02:45* That's almost a complete swap. *02:49* Because I've played all of them and you haven't. *02:50* You've played a couple. *02:52* I've just played a handful. *02:54* So it'll it'll be fun how we're going back and forth with our next two seasons here with you being the expert in one and then me being the expert in the next one we d we do. *02:55* So Yes. *03:03* And *03:04* Considering this is chapter select and we do go back and forth, uh, we're not going back and forth for the fast and the furious. *03:05* This was at the the request *03:12* of Logan. *03:15* He did not want to necessarily go back and forth from release order, a little narrative whiplash. *03:15* So for season four here we are going in chronological order. *03:21* Uh personally, I've never watched the Fast and Furious movies in chronological order. *03:25* I just watch whichever one I'm in the mood for or in release order. *03:29* So that's going to kind of lead us into something that looks a little bit like this is The Fast and the Furious for episode one, and then Too Fast, Too Furious, Fast and Furious for episode three, Fast Five for Episode Four. *03:33* Fast and Furious 6 for episode 5. *03:47* Then The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift as Episode 6. *03:50* Furious 7 is 7. *03:55* The Fate of the Furious for 8. *03:57* So those kind of line up. *03:59* And then we get Hobbes and Shaw for nine and then F9 for the tenth episode. *04:00* And then sometime in 2023, undoubtedly we would get together. *04:06* for fast X. *04:10* So eventually that will come out. *04:11* Well that's in May at some point in 23. *04:12* So you can probably bet on an episode about that down the line. *04:15* Uh but that is the order that we're approaching this in. *04:18* I still do not understand how I still don't understand how Tokyo Drift is like seven or eight movies in. *04:23* It doesn't compute with me. *04:28* I'm sure I'll figure it out. *04:29* You will. *04:30* And it's a yeah. *04:31* That's gonna be *04:34* It's again, it's so fascinating to me as someone who hasn't seen these, you're approaching it this way. *04:36* It's gonna be fun to explore the movies this way. *04:43* Because we both we both have never done it in this order. *04:46* And *04:49* I think that your insight as the story develops, kind of this arch, and then what my, you know, what I know from seeing all of them, it'll be fascinating for sure. *04:50* Yeah, I'm I'm looking I'm looking forward to watching a film series that has the rock in it. *05:02* I'll just say that. *05:09* Cause I have not seen many rock films now that I think about it. *05:10* He's like one of the most famous actors in the world, and I've never seen his a lot of his movies. *05:14* His Hobbes is *05:20* iconic and the beef between him and Vin Diesel out here in real life is um also iconic at this point. *05:22* It's iconic, but it's so unfortunate for the implications later in the franchise. *05:28* So *05:32* That's kind of where we're losing. *05:33* We are continuing our bi-weekly release like we normally do with the episodes starting on August 24th of 2022. *05:34* And then we're going to release every other week after that. *05:42* Taken us through the year and into 2023 where Resident Evil will be waiting for us. *05:45* So without further ado, I say we, you know, grab a corona *05:52* Get around the table, we'll say grace, and then get in our cars. *05:57* I have one final question. *06:01* Uh since last season was called C uh season three E, are we calling this season *06:03* The fast and the forest. *06:08* Uh if we could come up with a better pun, see uh putting it in the middle there, it's like *06:13* Uh chapter select season four season th mm, I don't know. *06:20* It kinda *06:28* The the fa the chapter in the select. *06:29* The podcast and euphorious. *06:33* There you go. *06:36* Something like that. *06:36* This is horrible. *06:37* But this is *06:38* Yeah. *06:40* It's on par with the films. *06:40* Thank you all for listening. *06:42* We're very excited to share the rest of this season with you. *06:43* And until next time, adios. *06:46* Family, family, family, family, family, family *06:50*
