*00:31* I have an undeniable soft spot for this movie. *00:32* Um *00:35* It's definitely because it's the first one I ever saw. *00:37* This is the first Fast and Furious movie I ever saw. *00:41* Okay. *00:43* And I nostalgia has crippled me. *00:44* And *00:47* Honestly, this movie almost this movie's amazing. *00:48* I so I mean I've mentioned this on a bunch of other things, but like every other *00:52* movie outside of the first one on this season. *00:57* This is straight up the first time I've seen this. *00:59* So this is the only this is not only going to be my commentary for the movie, but this is going to be my *01:02* raw commentary of things that I am witnessing for the first time ever. *01:07* And here's your first new family member. *01:12* I need to turn on subtitles. *01:16* I just turned mine on. *01:18* Fire em up, Logan. *01:25* Let's fire 'em up. *01:26* Got ludicrous keeping the rappers involved in these movies. *01:30* Look at this first guy Jaw Rule. *01:33* So I I I mentioned and I'll talk about this more on our dedicated episode we do for this, but I do specifically remember when this movie came out. *01:38* Like I was in school. *01:46* I lived on Cordova Drive before I moved to Danville. *01:48* I was going to West Newton Elementary. *01:52* I think I was in second or third grade, and I remember when this movie came out because kids at my school were starting to get into this and they're like *01:53* You know what my favorite movie is? *02:00* The Fast and the Furious. *02:02* Too fast, too furious. *02:05* Oh my gosh. *02:10* We're good. *02:12* Does her shirt just say porn on it? *02:14* Just *02:16* I missed it. *02:18* I was tweaking my audio. *02:19* There was a girl and she just had a shirt that just said porn on it, I believe. *02:20* Oh man. *02:25* Come on, Joaquin. *02:31* You recognize those cars? *02:32* Two of them? *02:34* Yeah. *02:35* Who is that? *02:36* The red one? *02:40* Uh no, the actor. *02:43* But I'm saying the guy in red or the guy in the brown car? *02:45* The guy in uh r red there, I believe. *02:50* He's in a couple of TV shows and stuff. *02:53* If you ever watched Prison Break, he was in Prison Break. *02:55* Michael Ely is what I am being told here, thanks to Amazon. *02:58* It's actually kind of cool how you do this. *03:02* I'm watching this on Prime. *03:03* Oh, they're not going to be able to do that. *03:04* You want racist? *03:12* I was gonna say at at what point here is Brian gonna show up because we know that this'll be his intro. *03:15* So *03:21* Again, tying into the prelude that we just watched, you know I need the money. *03:22* He just races for money. *03:26* So *03:29* Is I here's the thing I don't know. *03:31* And I I I mean don't tell me, but I don't even know if Dom is in this movie. *03:34* You'll find out he makes his grand return in Fast and Furious, maybe? *03:40* Because I know Fast and Furious was a big deal when that came out because it was like, oh, the original tag is back together. *03:44* The tagline for Fast and Furious was n um *03:50* I think it was new model original parts. *03:54* So Yeah. *03:57* So I cause I I knew that was a a big deal. *03:58* And I know that Too Fast largely features a lot of new characters. *04:01* This *04:06* Oh my gosh. *04:08* Look at this his skyline. *04:09* This is iconic. *04:11* This is remember, this is the uh Hot Wheel. *04:12* I think he's wearing cover art for the episode. *04:15* I have this Hot Wheel of this skyline. *04:18* I thought this car was the coolest car in the world for a very long time. *04:21* This one specifically. *04:26* It's the blue. *04:28* Too fast, too furious song playing in the background. *04:29* By ludicrous. *04:33* Yes. *04:34* It was one of those, you know, rap actor partnership things. *04:35* Look at the smoke and fire coming out of the car. *04:40* It's Brian. *04:51* It's like the least intimidating thing you could ever say. *04:53* Oh no, it's Brian. *04:56* Sorry to our friend Brian Hankin out there. *04:59* That's a cool shot right there. *05:02* How they had it roll up and blow the smoke into the camera *05:04* I like I mean it still remains like so I I don't know, there's just something about how these movies are shot that is so nostalgic. *05:09* It's his energy, this early 2003 energy. *05:19* You can tell these were shot I mean to my nod maybe I sound like an idiot here, but you can also tell these were shot on film *05:27* I believe. *05:35* Like these are not shot digitally. *05:35* It just has a different cinematic look to it. *05:37* Like, and I'm not saying this is like an Oscar winning picture or anything like that, but it just has a There's texture. *05:40* Yeah, there's just depth to the scenes. *05:47* It doesn't look so flat. *05:50* And again, none of these sets are super amazing or anything like that, but *05:52* So they did film this movie in Florida. *05:59* Um, it takes place in Miami. *06:02* I don't know if they filmed in Miami, but they definitely filmed in Florida. *06:04* So now we're raising the stakes. *06:09* I like how Brian's uh wardrobe is a white t-shirt and some jeans. *06:14* Yo, w just wearing white t-shirts though, there's something to be said about just rocking a white t-shirt and and jeans. *06:18* If you can pull it off, especially if you're like in shape, which I've never been. *06:25* But *06:29* I mean there are people that I know are in this movie that I'm looking forward to seeing how they get introduced. *06:40* Oh well there's one right there right on cue. *06:45* Told you she wasn't the prelude *06:49* Why is his steering wheel wheel on the right side? *06:56* Is he driving a European car? *06:59* Uh Japanese. *07:00* This is a Nissan Skyline GTR. *07:01* Steering wheels on the correct side of the car. *07:05* The skylines are awesome. *07:08* Thanks, Brian. *07:10* And it's nice that this movie is still like Fast Imperius is still about racing cars on a core level. *07:17* Opening up with the car race, yeah. *07:26* Fighting tanks or whatever the heck it becomes. *07:28* Mm-hmm. *07:30* And it's the blue tint the blue tint to his car matches uh Paul Walker's eyes very well. *07:41* It's probably why they accented it with blue. *07:47* Look at the flames. *07:49* It's interesting to see already how much more of a role uh Ludacris has than who was the rapper in the last movie that you pointed out. *07:53* John Rule. *08:01* John Rule. *08:02* And obviously we know Ludacris is in other movies in this series, so you know, it's easy to remember he's already he's gonna be major player. *08:03* I gotta know, I know we're in the middle of a drag race here right now, but what do fans normally think of this one? *08:19* Is this one of the more divisive ones, or what is the kind of *08:25* I was looking at Rotten Tomatoes the other day and it's at a fifty something percent for uh m uh audience. *08:29* My at least end it is on the lower end, I think, of fans. *08:37* I think you have to have a special place in your heart for this one. *08:40* Um, it's it can be divisive, especially when you think of the other ones where Tokyo Drift is *08:44* top tier and saved th the franchise and then I think the really Yeah, it's probably on the low end *08:54* But it's my favorite. *09:03* Do you notice the difference in how these races are shot from the first movie already? *09:06* Yeah. *09:10* You can tell when the car is CG. *09:11* Like that. *09:14* Well before the last movie they only raced in a straight line too. *09:17* They weren't racing Gran Turismo style around a neighborhood or whatever. *09:21* Pretty much. *09:26* It was a quarter mile straight race *09:28* So this is it's a more dynamic race, but they're also relying more on special effects *09:31* But what they do with the The cuts in and out of the car are cool though. *09:40* I like this *09:44* There's a good sense of the same thing. *09:47* There's a good sense of like seamlessness to it though, where it's not it is CGI, yes, but it's going in and out so fast that it doesn't look real wonky. *09:49* Mm-hmm. *09:58* I appreciate the uh cultural diversity of this racing career here. *10:13* Mm-hmm. *10:18* Nowadays, if this movie would have come out in tw 2022, people probably would have said they were intentionally trying to be woke or something stupid with all these different nationalities that are present. *10:20* Mmm. *10:46* He's got Nas on Can't be pushing in the Nas button. *10:47* He's using it too early. *10:51* I like how there are two races essentially going on. *11:03* It's the race for third and it's the race for first. *11:05* It's almost like an A plot and B plot in the same race. *11:09* Yes. *11:16* That dude's looked very stressed out this entire race, even though he's been out in front. *11:23* He's nervous. *11:28* I can smell you *11:29* Oh, they're gonna launch their cars. *11:34* Like not only are we conducting an illegal tree race, we've also broken in and we're lifting the bridge. *11:44* Bridge. *11:55* Bridge. *11:56* Great line. *11:57* I love that effect. *11:58* Oh my gosh, I love this movie *12:08* Double push two nos buttons. *12:17* Oh boy. *12:21* And you're gonna shoot over him. *12:24* Yeah, cause that's how cars work. *12:28* It was a cool reverse shot, like how it flips. *12:33* The flip? *12:36* Yeah. *12:37* Yeah. *12:38* That Pepsi sponsorship. *12:42* I'm sure they all appreciate your nice surprise there, Ludacris. *12:44* Yeah, their cars being totaled. *12:50* Yeah. *12:52* Very nice ch shock here. *12:53* He's the only one that was smart enough to s not do it. *12:55* What? *13:01* These are lines of dialogue *13:01* What's something you would yell when jumping into the air? *13:07* How about smack that ass? *13:10* This man's gotta go to the hospital. *13:20* Suki with the second place *13:25* Respect. *13:30* Like the respect nod? *13:32* Yeah. *13:34* He hasn't lost a race yet. *13:49* Undefeated. *13:52* Well, since leaving LA. *13:53* Since leaving, yeah. *13:56* You gotta yeah, you gotta watch the *13:57* pre-film to know what I'm talking about there with him not losing races. *14:00* Wow, very smooth there. *14:18* He totaled her car and she's like, Yeah, let's get together now, baby *14:20* Busted *14:33* My guess and this was before I even started watching this movie *14:40* My guess is that Eva Mendez's character is uh not a good person. *14:45* Or she's not good herself. *14:50* She'll be revealed as like some sort of antagonist here. *14:53* Alright. *14:57* Because I know one of the things I do know about this film series, even though I don't know a lot. *14:59* Is that what's his face does marry uh Mia and they like have a kid. *15:06* Yes. *15:12* 'Cause I've seen that whole ending scene obviously where they split apart in the final movie and they write him off write him out. *15:13* So I know that happens. *15:20* Okay. *15:21* So she's gonna be a love interest in the m this movie, which means things have to go south at some point, and how does that happen? *15:22* I'm thinking maybe she's an undercover cop or something. *15:30* So we've established new technology that can just take a car out. *15:37* Do you reckon as the police officer? *15:42* I didn't dare, but let me see again *15:47* I'm fairly sure that's the same cop in the first movie. *15:53* I now have to look this up. *16:00* Did they show him again here? *16:02* Yeah. *16:03* You should recognize him. *16:19* Mm-hmm. *16:21* He's a guy who said if you want time get a magazine. *16:22* A classic. *16:26* I think they all look familiar. *16:32* Maybe not *16:40* So he leaves the cops, bails out his friend who's also a street racer. *17:04* Drives across the country, gets caught street racing, and now they're just briefing him *17:11* Mm-hmm. *17:20* And they're trying to get him *17:21* Did he also say that Ava Mendez is a cop there a second ago? *17:31* That she's a copycover agent. *17:35* But they didn't say who? *17:38* Mm-hmm. *17:39* And there's your incentive of why they've brought him in. *17:45* I was gonna say, is he talking about his pizza cup there? *18:26* You gotta call in Dominic Toretto. *18:37* Is this gonna be Tyrese? *18:53* Time to meet another member of the family, Logan. *19:01* I assume this is Tyrese. *19:06* Yeah. *19:09* I think this movie does a really great job of you don't need to see the first one to grasp what's going on. *19:23* Which was the case for me when I saw this at the ripe young age of *19:31* Nine. *19:36* I mean it's a whole new cast of characters so far. *19:37* I mean the cops I mean Brian's back and then the cops are back. *19:39* But that's about it. *19:44* And all and but they've they've filled you in. *19:47* Brian's a a cop on the run. *19:49* They do well. *19:53* It's like a soft reboot, but it's a sequel. *19:54* I mean I don't know if it's a soft reboot. *20:00* No, it like I'm saying it has the you know when I'm like God of War 2018 where everything sticks but it's *20:02* Some familiar faces, but new people. *20:11* I still think it's funny that *20:22* I still think it's funny that these guys probably got cast in this movie like Tyrese probably got cast in this movie just thinking like oh it's just this *20:30* Part in this fashion figure sequel and then now we're like he's like eight or nine movies deep in this series and he's one of the biggest characters in the franchise. *20:37* And Bajillionaire *20:46* Also stars in Morbius. *20:48* He probably thought nothing of it when he Or maybe he I'm sure he thought something of it, but Pig *20:50* So is he gonna punch him? *21:16* Yeah, of course he is. *21:18* But then it pulls out to that *21:31* that back, you know, faraway shot sh and it becomes childish. *21:33* Now he's eating popcorn watching them fight *21:39* Look at this, he's got him in a chill cold, like a UFC fighter. *21:55* I got a job. *22:08* I got a deal. *22:10* I like Paul Walker trying to be a tough guy. *22:40* Mm-hmm. *22:43* Like getting up as a big thing. *22:44* He does it really poorly. *22:45* They act like brothers. *22:53* Now we can take the RV and cook some crystal meth. *23:12* Time to take the R. *23:17* Make sure you get a good lawyer if you're gonna start doing that. *23:18* Mm-hmm. *23:21* Did they take it off? *23:35* Is that what they show there? *23:36* Okay. *23:38* He just hasn't. *23:39* Man, Brian's wearing a West Coast Chopper shirt. *23:43* That's basketball shirt. *23:46* Very early two thousands. *23:48* Right. *23:50* I wonder where Barstow is. *24:17* I've never looked up Barstow. *24:19* Where's Barstow? *24:20* Would it be in Arizona? *24:22* Because that's where he's from. *24:24* I don't know. *24:28* The Barstow, California. *24:31* Yep, it's in California. *24:35* It makes sense that he was a cop out in LA. *24:38* Barstows outside of LA *24:45* Mm. *24:51* The hater license plate on the Mitsubishi on the purple jersey. *24:52* There's Eva Mendez again. *24:57* Mm-hmm. *24:59* So she is a cop, like I theorized. *25:21* Yes. *25:24* Spot on, which means the law will break them apart here in this film, like I guess. *25:26* Cause Brian's got that street racer in him and she'll probably be a cop lady. *25:36* That was a cool shot right there. *25:43* He was they were up by Roman on his left and then went up and weaved between the cars and went to the passenger side of Brian's car *25:45* This is a classic. *26:16* This is a move. *26:18* You gotta use this move. *26:19* Is this what you did to get your wife? *26:20* Exactly. *26:23* So yeah, it's becoming increasingly apparent that Dom is just not gonna be in this film. *26:37* Which again I didn't *26:42* I did not know not in this movie. *26:44* Okay. *26:46* I mean that makes sense. *26:47* That makes more sense with Fast and Furious with how it's all about getting the gang back together and is the new relaunch point afterward. *26:48* It's interesting though that they chose to end fast one with the post credit scene solely focused on Dom. *26:56* And then you get to this and the sequel and nowhere to be seen. *27:06* Maybe that's we should look this up before we record the full episode. *27:11* But I would love to understand *27:16* why they chose to stick with just Brian in this in the sequel. *27:19* Maybe it was a scheduling thing. *27:24* I know Vin was really busy back in the early 2000s. *27:25* He was on all kinds of stuff back then, yeah. *27:29* I mean the Riddick movies were going a little bit harder back then. *27:32* I mean he ended up having a lull, but I feel like late 90s, early 2000s, he had a lot of stuff going on. *27:35* Nowadays it's mainly just he's in *27:41* Whatever the new fast movie is, and then he goes and says his I am Groot voice lines. *27:44* Those are the only things I can really think of that he's in anymore. *27:49* Look at those socks. *27:52* The shorts, the shoes, shoes. *27:55* It's a whole thing, man. *27:58* I mean hey, he looks like I'd probably look nowadays. *28:04* I think I know this scene. *28:09* This is where he says we hungry, isn't it? *28:11* Uh we're close. *28:13* It's not this exactly, but we're getting there. *28:14* Look at that. *28:17* TV is a painting. *28:19* So what is the villain man's name? *28:22* Carter. *28:25* Okay. *28:26* She just said it. *28:27* Mm-hmm. *28:28* Is that supposed to be his squee okay, yeah. *28:36* There it is. *28:39* Is her being under supposedly *28:41* You're asking all the questions like right before they're answered. *28:44* Little Haiti. *28:59* Interesting. *29:00* I've been to Miami once. *29:02* I don't know if I ever went to Little Haiti. *29:04* They have to give up their own. *29:28* Soundtrack to this movie is straight fire. *29:29* I think you're a little behind me now. *29:35* No, I I've I'm past that. *29:38* Now I'm listening to that music. *29:40* Okay. *29:41* I haven't stopped or anything. *29:42* No, I d I was just trying to tell you mentioned drivers license. *29:44* Yeah, they gave their driver's licenses, so they're driving without a license. *29:46* Crime *29:50* Hmm. *29:51* And now we are auditioning. *29:54* Now these are cars on the road. *29:58* Like that's you know *30:00* At least that looks like a real shot to me. *30:01* No, it definitely was, I believe. *30:03* But we gotta go inside the car now. *30:06* Just like in the last movie. *30:10* Silly Caps *30:20* This movie's doing a lot less, uh I mean outside of Roman. *30:41* It's doing a lot less character work so far though, and it's more just about it's a t race it's a tighter cast. *30:46* Um and I think it's more focused. *30:55* Like we know the plot of this movie's it's f *30:59* We're straightforward. *31:03* There's no 30 minute uh Brian's secretly an undercover cop. *31:05* Like none of that's a thing. *31:09* This guy clearly doesn't know how to drive. *31:13* Just a dealing. *31:22* But also I think that was real. *31:24* Not obviously a person in the car, but that man is dead. *31:27* Exactly. *31:32* No, but running over with a semi, I think that looks very real as a far as a practical effect, and you're starting to see the stunt work. *31:33* kind of building up more and more between the movies. *31:41* Everything Paul Walker says sounds cool, even when what he's saying is dumb. *31:52* I think that's a testament to his delivery. *31:57* Cause he's also really cool. *32:02* And this was the first time I heard how do you like them apples. *32:12* You'd never heard that before? *32:16* Uh not when I was a child. *32:18* This was the first time. *32:20* It wasn't in um *32:21* What's that movie with Matt Damon in it? *32:24* Where he's and Ben Afflack and he's super smart at math. *32:27* Uh Goodwill Hunting. *32:31* Yeah, it wasn't Goodwill Hunting. *32:32* I used to just hear it because my dad would say it. *32:34* No, this is what I heard. *32:38* Boom. *32:40* This is also how I learned that those trash cans are filled with water, like the barricades. *32:44* I think it helps having such a focused *33:10* plot here. *33:14* You can tell when they fast forward they're fast forwarding the clips. *33:18* Yeah you can *33:22* To make it look like they're going fast. *33:24* Because they're obviously not going sixty in a the impound lot. *33:25* Boom. *33:39* These scenes are getting cut together pretty *33:42* Strangely. *33:45* Can you see how m they got to the electrifying prelude? *33:46* Yeah. *33:51* It must be the same editor or close, similar styles at least. *33:52* Gotta take the shirt off. *34:00* Gotta take the shirt off after you're done driving. *34:01* Well, there's a purpose for it. *34:04* I assume there was. *34:07* Conveys their styles though. *34:13* Are they gonna get in a tussle here? *34:34* Oh my gosh, crime *34:39* Oh heck yeah, dude. *34:50* I love it. *34:53* R Rome just starts shooting at his employer *34:54* He didn't kill nobody. *35:06* He just gotta sell it. *35:07* He's definitely selling it, but it's also very Roman. *35:09* And y and you'll get to know him better obviously. *35:12* This dude is the villain so far, is very weak. *35:29* This way. *35:35* Just wait. *35:36* Okay. *35:37* We hungry. *35:38* Hungry. *35:39* You have now witnessed cinema history. *35:40* We hungry is something I still quote to this day. *35:45* Many do. *35:48* Yeah. *35:49* That's one of the things I definitely know about this movie. *35:50* He says it again later, too, doesn't he? *35:53* As he's eating. *35:55* Um *35:56* By the pool? *35:58* Yeah, but he's I think he's talking about money. *36:00* What does Eva Mendez do nowadays? *36:19* I know I do stuff anymore. *36:22* She used to be in all kinds of things back then, uh *36:25* Isn't she married to or maybe they're not married, but I think they're like together and have kids. *36:32* Isn't she with Ryan Gosling? *36:37* I think they're married. *36:40* Oh, Ryan Gosling. *36:42* I th Um Yeah, partner, Ryan Gosling from 2011 to now. *36:43* That's what I thought. *36:49* She has oh they both they have two children. *36:50* I thought so. *36:53* I probably looked us all up after La La Land for some reason. *36:56* When I got interested in Ryan Gosling. *37:01* The way that man has this cigar in his mouth. *37:14* House has ears. *37:48* He chucked his cigar into the ocean *37:50* He's a polluter. *37:55* I don't think he cares. *37:58* He is a villain. *38:00* Hungry. *38:34* I thought he said it again. *38:36* So good. *38:38* The framing of that shot's so goofy with her in the background. *38:47* Like she's perfectly you can perfectly see all three of their faces. *38:51* Yeah, it just looks I mean it just looks funny. *38:54* You can tell they did it s for cinematic reasons *38:58* He sold some man's cigar cutter. *39:14* Paul Walker's outfit's cooler the more I look at it. *39:37* I'm gonna start dressing like this all the time. *39:41* The the coolness is coming in more and more. *39:44* Just rocking shorts with the high white socks and *39:47* The oversized t shirt. *39:51* Yeah. *39:53* Female. *40:05* Yeah, Brian. *40:08* Look where we at *40:11* They call him Bullet for some reason. *40:26* It's his racer name. *40:28* It's his racer name. *40:33* Everybody's got like a a car name. *40:35* My dad uh drives trucks for a living. *40:39* Uh and he said that he used uh I think his I think his call sign used to be Flash. *40:43* Is what they would call him. *40:50* And everybody would just call e each other different uh like nicknames like that uh over the CD radio. *40:52* He was Flash, yeah *40:59* It's like a trucker and racer thing apparently that people get r nicknames. *41:03* This is Tedge. *41:20* Tej. *41:23* Tej is that his name? *41:23* Okay, I couldn't I I just call him Ludacris. *41:25* Ludacris, Tej *41:29* Quite the criticism, Roman. *41:46* He's being flattering. *41:49* It's all that they uh is all that Tej does is He's a circuit man race things and bet. *41:55* Well it's his garage too, so he *42:01* That was probably really loud. *42:12* I'm very curious again, I'm not gonna ask about these things because I'll find out in time. *42:46* But I'm curious to see how uh Roman here ends up joining appearing in this film to then appearing in the with the mainstream the future, yeah *42:51* Because obviously he is the character in this. *43:05* I don't know, does Ludacris appear in the other ones too? *43:07* I think he is. *43:10* Oh yeah. *43:11* Okay, I thought so. *43:11* So I'm looking forward to seeing how they get folded in back in with Dominican. *43:17* Yeah. *43:24* It's funny 'cause they're trying to like *43:45* Not let the cops track them, but they're also still trying to do this job for the cops. *43:48* Like they're doing their mission and they're doing the thing the cops want them to, but they don't want the cops *43:53* following them at the same time. *43:59* And the other thing is is the cops clearly don't trust them and are ruining their plans. *44:02* That's a good tactic. *44:36* I'm gonna keep that one in mind for the future. *44:37* Just pretend you're cleaning somebody's car and then light it on fire. *44:39* Look I'm carrying. *45:19* I'm packing. *45:23* Is that it almost feels like he's in front of a green screen there *45:25* Where at? *45:31* He shouldn't be. *45:32* Just the way Rome was piercing, he kinda had like it may have been just the way it was edited or it's been remastered, but like there was like a an after image of him walking up. *45:33* Roman's out here in the back hungry again. *45:50* That's a thing, man, he's always eating. *45:54* Brutality. *46:17* Oh, *46:24* That's just gonna win cred with Roman. *46:32* You would think. *46:36* He already didn't like that he was a cop. *46:38* You would think he's happy that he turned on the cops. *46:40* Mm-hmm. *46:43* I gotta ask in advance, is there a post-credit scene in this one? *46:44* I'll double I already yeah *46:48* Yes? *46:51* I double I checked all this last time. *46:52* No yeah, double check again. *46:55* I'll pull I'll pull it up. *46:56* It's getting thick real quick. *47:13* I gotta say the like *47:16* The verbiage they're using in this movie is like strangely still modern. *47:20* Like he's saying bruh and they're saying bruh. *47:24* Like this that's still how people talk. *47:27* It's just kind of funny. *47:29* Oh there are no post credit scenes in this film. *47:34* Okay. *47:36* Or mid credits. *47:37* You're telling me they don't set up Tokyo Drift? *47:40* They don't show you they don't show you what's coming up next. *47:44* Negative. *47:49* That's quite the outfit there, Roman. *47:57* Right? *48:00* Is Suki in any of the other movies? *48:20* Unfortunately, no *48:23* No, I don't think Suki has made uh return yet. *48:27* Save the spray, Nas *48:44* See how they've this is so clever though. *48:50* They've incorporated a street race again, but narratively to the stakes of the main *48:53* Case like job. *49:00* We've got to get these unmarked cars so we can do some stuff to do our job without the cops screwing us up. *49:02* But it's also still a race. *49:09* Tess straight up talking about beating people. *49:18* I like how often they race for each other's cars in these movies. *49:23* Like they're just flippant clips. *49:26* Yeah, they're just very flippant and ready to race for *49:28* Thousands of dollars tens of thousands of dollar vehicles. *49:33* Because you gotta think how much these are souped up, too. *49:35* It's not just a car. *49:38* It's a car that has been worked on with a lot of parts. *49:39* I feel like Roman's gonna lose here. *49:53* So it's a tag team, so uh don't they do that in wrestling? *49:59* Tag team? *50:04* Tag your buddy. *50:05* Yeah, so he'll drive back down on the way, tap Brian, and then Brian takes off and drives it. *50:06* Second way. *50:11* Down and back. *50:13* So what's gonna happen is he's gonna get he's gonna get blown out here and then Brian's gonna have to save it. *50:13* See I could be a script writer *50:20* Hmm. *50:23* Again, I I don't know if that's exactly what's gonna happen, but that's what I assume will happen. *50:24* Rome, who just got to Miami, already runs the streets. *50:35* Rome Roam. *50:47* It's a great full name. *50:52* You can tell we haven't been to Tokyo yet because we're not drifting very good. *51:00* See the way he used his heel to hit the brakes? *51:10* That is not how you're supposed to drive. *51:14* Maybe you're not a street racer. *51:16* How would you know? *51:18* I'm not. *51:19* This is true. *51:19* Boy. *51:25* It is. *51:26* This is this dialogue has aged gracefully. *51:26* Gosh, it will be twenty next year. *51:33* Oh my gosh. *51:36* Dirty racing *51:40* Dang, that was quite the Perfect hit. *51:42* Yeah. *51:45* What would have pro what would have kept him from just driving straight through that and screwing himself up *51:46* Been sabotaged. *51:56* Brian's gonna have to bail him out. *51:58* If this is Forza Horizon, running through the sign would have given you bonus points. *52:00* True. *52:07* That guy looks like he belongs in the Sopranos. *52:09* You want me to look it up? *52:14* Does she not? *52:17* I don't know. *52:18* I didn't say he isn't. *52:19* I've never seen the Sopranos. *52:21* He just looks like a character that would be in a mafia thing. *52:22* Mafia movie or mafia media. *52:27* Maybe I've just got that sort of I've been playing the mafia video game lately, so maybe I'm just thinking that way. *52:31* Playing chicken. *52:52* It's the only way he can win the race now. *52:53* He is in a lot of crime-related film. *52:59* Is he? *53:02* He looks like he's a mobster. *53:03* He's in The Departed. *53:05* He's in Joker. *53:07* He was in The Irishman, American Gangster. *53:11* I mean he's in a lot of movies. *53:16* I'm just calling out the ones specifically that uh match your *53:17* Your assessment. *53:21* Um he's also in a TV show called Witness to the Mob *53:23* Got that speedy effect going on again. *53:33* From the first one? *53:37* Well anytime they hit Nas it just does the zoom out z blur thing. *53:39* I bet these c three G the C G car graphics here were probably off the chart. *53:48* At the time. *53:55* Yes. *53:57* Top tier top tier graphics for sure. *53:58* For the time period. *54:02* Boom. *54:05* What now you mentioned that, you know, everyone's just willing to race for for pink slips. *54:11* I'm more surprised at how willing like people give it over. *54:18* Everyone is a is a racer of their word. *54:22* Now they got cars. *54:29* Well if they don't Brian strapped. *54:30* We just got this established a couple scenes back. *54:34* This is true *54:36* So now we in the club. *54:38* All you gotta do is show them your piece and your you get your car. *54:39* It's a hoases. *54:47* It's a great term. *54:50* I like Roman, he's a great character. *55:25* Who writes this? *55:28* His delivery is impeccable. *55:29* There you go. *55:58* It's all the backstory you need. *55:59* Once he became a cop, he said he started seeing him as the as a friend. *56:03* Friend who became the enemy. *56:07* Oh, I gotcha. *56:09* Admiring his bracelet. *56:19* I don't know *56:46* If I really like there being a singular like villain in this movie, to be honest. *56:49* It's kinda *56:54* As opposed to having like Johnny Tran and Well, I guess he was a villain in the last one. *56:56* I know, but that was still *57:01* This guy's like the rich like uh villa like mustache twirly villain. *57:04* Like Johnny Tran in the last one was like, I'm a street racer too, I'm just a bad street racer. *57:10* You're absolutely correct. *57:15* He is um *57:17* This uh Carter here is definitely the weakest villain in the entire series. *57:18* And then obviously as these movies evolve, the villains become *57:23* you know, more bodacious in scope and scale. *57:28* We get John Cena, we get The Rock, we get uh what's her name, who's in uh *57:32* Who shows at the up at the end of the new Doctor Strange movie? *57:38* What's her name? *57:41* Charlie's Therone. *57:42* Yeah, the South African lady. *57:43* I was trying to think of her name. *57:45* Charlie's *57:46* So he's definitely the weakest and um I mean you're hitting it on the head. *57:48* He's just a rich *57:54* He's just yeah, he's just a weird villain for them to like go up against. *57:56* Like it doesn't feel like there's any personal like even with Johnny Train in the last one, like at least there was like a personal beef between *58:00* Mm-hmm. *58:08* Him and Dom and the rest and it made sense why that that was the way that it was to a degree. *58:09* Mm-hmm. *58:16* Okay. *58:31* The cut between Eva's face and then back to Carter. *58:32* You can see her face is a totally different look at the time. *58:35* Now we're leaving. *58:39* Do do you like the design of the club here? *58:43* Very 2003. *58:47* Uh yeah, very much so. *58:49* Is that when this movie came out? *58:50* Oh three? *58:52* I didn't look. *58:52* Yeah. *58:53* Yes. *58:54* So we're coming up on a scene, a pivotal scene in the film. *58:56* And this was the one scene that my aunt, who rented this back in 03, and this is when I watched it, um, this is the one scene I had to close my eyes for. *59:04* So all I did was I heard this. *59:16* And honestly, this scene still gives me kind of the heebie jeebies, and I think it's because of the circumstances I saw it under. *59:21* Yeah. *59:28* Certain things that certain things that r resonate with you in an emotional way when you're a kid still do. *59:29* Like I still think the video game *59:38* Jet Force Gemini is scary. *59:40* Because I thought it was scary when I was a kid. *59:42* That's the uh *59:48* That's the cop from the Dark Knight that he holds upside down and goes, Where is he? *59:51* It's that guy. *59:56* Yep. *59:58* The guy who steals the guy's money says, Come on man, I've got kids. *59:59* He says, Well, they don't like falafel. *01:00:03* Or not the Dark Knights from Batman Begins. *01:00:06* The table. *01:00:19* So this is the scene you had to close your eyes during I imagine? *01:00:21* I was and we had to close our eyes, my brother and me. *01:00:24* I'm curious to see what you think of this. *01:00:30* So you would have been I was nine nine. *01:00:34* My brother was seven. *01:00:39* Okay. *01:00:41* Oh gosh. *01:00:43* Ah I've seen scenes like this before *01:00:55* You gotta establish that the villain is truly evil. *01:01:22* Evil. *01:01:26* So that you want him to lose. *01:01:27* That's kind of what they did in the last movie with Johnny Train. *01:01:30* They're like, how do we make this man evil? *01:01:33* He'll blow up a car, and then that's how you know he's really evil. *01:01:35* I mean, we've definitely stepped up the evil *01:01:40* Between the movies here. *01:01:43* It's just a tad bit for sure. *01:01:45* We got a camera inside the bucket too. *01:01:56* Mm-hmm *01:01:59* See how the henchmen are smiling as if they enjoy this? *01:02:07* The music in the background of the scene's also kind of hilarious. *01:02:13* Clearly he they heated up a bucket too. *01:02:25* Obviously the rat was not in the bucket. *01:02:27* But no, this was really shot. *01:02:29* They wanted to keep it really They wanted to get a real performance out of this man. *01:02:31* His name is uh Mark Boone Jr. *01:02:37* We got an F-bomb in this movie. *01:02:44* Spicy. *01:02:47* They use their one. *01:02:48* They use their one allotment. *01:02:50* Now look at his belly. *01:02:52* That wasn't that bad. *01:02:54* Come on, bro. *01:02:55* It's like a couple little nibbles. *01:02:56* You at least gotta hold out till it hits the intestines. *01:02:59* But yeah, I had to close my eyes for that in 2003. *01:03:04* And she just let it keep playing in the background? *01:03:07* Yeah. *01:03:10* Had she seen the movie already? *01:03:11* No. *01:03:13* So my aunt and uncle and my two cousins, they rented the movie and we were over there one evening. *01:03:14* And they realized what was happening, and they were just like, Max, close your eyes. *01:03:19* Mm-hmm. *01:03:23* Okay. *01:03:24* There's more to this story. *01:03:25* I'll share it on the the episode with you, but *01:03:26* I've just tortured a man and now I will make out with you. *01:03:34* Like clearly this is a little bit more than a little bit. *01:03:44* Yeah, we gotta *01:03:53* This man trying to get rats to eat through people and he's threatening to kill this lady. *01:03:54* These lines are so bad, bad and just so good *01:04:53* They just sound so those ones sounded definitely unnatural. *01:05:02* Yeah, but it's the energy. *01:05:07* We're in the boathouse. *01:05:11* Like, why is she in a crop tab? *01:05:15* Now please make love to me before you die. *01:05:28* That's what I'm expecting to happen. *01:05:33* You got another you got another Pepsi uh ad spot right there. *01:05:44* He's got a West Coast Chopper sticker in the window too. *01:06:00* I the clearly that you can see all the marketing. *01:06:05* Yeah. *01:06:07* Pepsi, Soby. *01:06:07* Let's go shopper. *01:06:11* We've gotten a smooch. *01:06:52* I feel like she's playing him, but I don't know. *01:06:57* I mean he's not good the evil man's not nice to her, so there's no reason for her to Hmm. *01:07:04* Clearly got the upper body strength. *01:07:30* She just pulled herself up onto the roof of the boat. *01:07:32* I thought she was maybe hiding in the shower. *01:07:35* I don't know man, starting a fight with people who have guns. *01:07:38* Brian doesn't speak Spanish. *01:07:52* How does he how does he know where they stay? *01:08:31* How does he know where they're at? *01:08:34* Well I'm sure I'm sure he Or were they staying down on his his dock there? *01:08:37* No. *01:08:42* No, but I would assume if I'm a criminal, I would know where my employees live. *01:08:44* Okay. *01:09:12* Okay. *01:09:14* We've switched to a blue t shirt. *01:09:22* It's a nice shirt. *01:09:29* I like a shirt. *01:09:30* How'd you wear that shirt? *01:09:31* This guy is just like, yeah, we'll kill Brian and Roman. *01:09:58* Well he doesn't care about he I mean he got shot out by them, so he's still trying to get revenge for that. *01:10:02* Mm-hmm *01:10:07* Bilkins is I'm pretty sure it's is it? *01:10:20* I don't think it's him *01:10:24* No, it's not it's uh to rule. *01:10:28* It's not him. *01:10:30* He reminds me of the uh the main character cop guy from the show with Urkel on it. *01:10:31* What's that show called? *01:10:39* Family Matters? *01:10:40* Yeah. *01:10:42* He looks like he looks like the cop and diehard. *01:10:42* Is that the cop and diehard? *01:10:46* Hmm. *01:10:48* Or uh yeah, it is the cop and diehard, yeah. *01:10:49* He looks like them *01:10:52* I mean he's just a bald black guy with a mustache, I guess. *01:10:53* Who's a police officer who's a police officer, but yeah, he f he's even playing the same ca uh same exact type of character. *01:10:57* Yeah. *01:11:06* Exactly. *01:11:28* Sunshine State license plate, baby. *01:11:29* Does your license plate say that now? *01:11:32* Sunshine State? *01:11:35* Yeah. *01:11:37* Mm-hmm. *01:11:38* Does it actually still say that on it? *01:11:38* Yeah. *01:11:41* It's got oranges in the middle. *01:11:41* Was he gonna flight nitrous and toss it in other cars or something? *01:12:03* You watch *01:12:10* This is the idea of the shot I'm gonna take for the art for this episode, by the way, is something similar to this scene. *01:12:15* I'm asking you this kind in real time, I guess, but with the art for the first season, did we end up choosing the Tuna One *01:12:25* Is that what we're doing? *01:12:32* Oh, for the first episode? *01:12:33* Mm-hmm. *01:12:34* Yeah, I it will be tuna related. *01:12:35* It might be too busy the way what I showed you, but we'll have tuna in it. *01:12:37* Yeah, tune is the plan, for sure. *01:12:43* Have they said Dom's name in this movie? *01:13:06* Just outright. *01:13:09* Family *01:13:31* I gotta see I gotta see what else Vin Diesel was doing when Too Fast would have come out. *01:13:34* Because I'm I'm very curious to know actually So some between 2001 and 2003. *01:13:40* Yeah so he did triple X in 2002 *01:13:45* Wait, what? *01:13:48* Oh, in his filmography, he's credited for the turbocharge prelude to Too Fast, Too Furious. *01:13:50* And I was like, what? *01:13:56* And it says archive footage from the original film. *01:13:57* Uh *01:14:00* Yes, okay, so he was definitely shooting Triple X and Riddick because Riddick came out in 2004, Triple X came out in 2002 *01:14:02* So he would have absolutely shot those two probably back to back. *01:14:15* And then he shot the hit film The Pacifier. *01:14:19* I love the pacifier. *01:14:24* That was a good movie. *01:14:26* So yeah, that probably has something to do with why I would imagine he was not written *01:14:33* Because the first movie probably did well and they were immediately like, okay, cool, we want to do a sequel, and he's like, They did green light the sequel immediately. *01:14:39* I'm locked into this and this. *01:14:45* And he had already been doing the Riddick stuff, Riddic's *01:14:46* One of his big franchises. *01:14:49* Yeah, there's Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, and uh I think there is another I think it was just called Riddick a couple years ago. *01:14:52* By a couple, I mean maybe five to ten years ago, I think. *01:15:02* I were made for this, bro. *01:15:08* Yeah, 2013. *01:15:11* Riddick. *01:15:15* I remember watching Chronicles of Riddick as a kid and I thought it was real cool at the time. *01:15:16* I have none of those five. *01:15:21* I thought it was real good sci-fi. *01:15:23* It's real interesting actually. *01:15:25* Pitch Black's I've never seen Pitch Black though. *01:15:27* It's not suspicious at all that these pimped out cars are just rolling into a trailer park. *01:15:33* And here's the mobster man with the sledgehammer. *01:15:39* Like this isn't subtle at all. *01:15:46* It's like that meme of uh of the guy who's have you seen that meme where there's like a Ferrari sitting underneath uh a trailer house like this? *01:15:49* Mm-hmm. *01:16:00* It's basically like somebody's rich enough to uh they spend all their money on one thing but not the other. *01:16:01* Mm-hmm. *01:16:10* I don't know what that meme is used for. *01:16:11* I've just seen that picture before. *01:16:13* I love it. *01:16:21* Save the art. *01:16:23* He's a man of culture. *01:16:25* Why is all this money in the walls? *01:16:38* Did I miss it? *01:16:40* It's all Carter's money. *01:16:41* It's his drug money. *01:16:42* Oh. *01:16:43* So he he listened to his uh cap instincts, following the law at risk of his family. *01:16:49* The cubs. *01:17:16* You would think like he's got like a Keanu Reeves like style delivery where he just says like *01:17:17* short lines but makes them sound cool. *01:17:22* He's ghost riding and whip kabam *01:17:34* I like how the second cap just crashed into the other car going so slow. *01:17:40* I f this is good. *01:18:02* This is good stuff right here. *01:18:04* This is very reminiscent of the first chitcar, like uh *01:18:16* drive the job test with Carter. *01:18:21* This feels very similar. *01:18:24* It feels like the Matrix 2. *01:18:26* Yeah. *01:18:29* Going down the highway. *01:18:29* Gonna start jumping all of between the cars now. *01:18:31* I love the sideways camera angle shots they always do where they twist the camera around, rotate it. *01:18:38* They get very creative with the shots here. *01:18:47* And I think it is out of a desire to try and keep some stuff practical still. *01:18:52* you know, real camera work instead of CG. *01:18:56* And CG was probably fairly expensive at the time too for what they were trying to do compared to what it is today. *01:18:58* Where have we seen these? *01:19:10* Got those fancy guns, baby. *01:19:12* Gonna shoot the cop cars with them instead though *01:19:15* It's new technology *01:19:19* I'm confused. *01:19:27* They called in this heli or no, they called the other helicopter. *01:19:28* Mm-hmm. *01:19:32* This is the local PD. *01:19:33* The customs helicopter is just surveilling everything. *01:19:35* But you have to have all three of them connected to make it work. *01:19:41* He can't drive. *01:19:57* How can he not drive? *01:19:58* He's always been a passenger *01:20:01* It's like that one song. *01:20:05* He still got his toes. *01:20:10* His toes can reach the gas while he's reaching the back door. *01:20:12* He's a very tall man. *01:20:16* It's like Shaquille O'Neal size. *01:20:19* The music's getting all intense. *01:20:25* They're reloading their guns. *01:20:27* Not even. *01:20:30* Throw it at the cop car, causes a huge wreck. *01:20:33* Yep. *01:20:38* Your loco *01:20:49* I'd be praying too. *01:21:01* They're gonna get killed here. *01:21:06* I don't understand why they need like if they know this man is a bad man *01:21:21* They have to tie the money to him up to the money. *01:21:28* You don't get exciting car chases. *01:21:40* Maybe like uh Capone. *01:21:42* Maybe you get him on tax dodging or something. *01:21:44* Gotta have some dirt you could get on 'em. *01:21:50* You would think. *01:21:54* Yeah, they're drifting still bad *01:22:07* Yeah, that we haven't been to Tokyo yet. *01:22:10* Do they all learn how to drift in the other movies later on? *01:22:14* Did they all driving skill driving skill improves dramatically over the course of the uh uh following films *01:22:18* I don't know why the federal government doesn't intercede and get the local PD off of this. *01:22:28* Yeah, it that's like clearly a much bigger case. *01:22:34* Yeah. *01:22:38* It's really kind of odd that they're like at odds with one another rather than working together. *01:22:40* We're bobbin' and weaving, we're weaving and bobbin. *01:22:51* Probably because the *01:22:55* Hmm probably because the what's his name, Carter has the local PD paid off to some degree, like he was trying to with Ratman. *01:22:58* So if they intercede, that kind of blows the code. *01:23:07* But the local PD or Oh, it would tip off if there were a rat in the PD, they would tip off Carter. *01:23:09* Sure. *01:23:17* Yeah. *01:23:18* I see that logic. *01:23:18* Buckle your seat belts. *01:23:23* Yeah, so they gotta keep this close to the vest and *01:23:26* Pull in two street racers to do the work for them. *01:23:29* Illegal street racers *01:23:34* Roman's gonna come out firing again here. *01:23:41* Firing what? *01:23:45* A bazooka. *01:23:47* He's gonna go he's gonna go full T2 Arnold in this scene. *01:23:48* Blow up all the police cars. *01:23:53* That looks like a shot out of the dark night with Morgan Freeman looking at all the bat computers. *01:23:57* We have a city. *01:24:05* Oh, they got trucks. *01:24:08* Two truck, too furious. *01:24:11* Pretty much *01:24:14* Look at these. *01:24:16* Baby *01:24:20* Now which car is the money in? *01:24:28* Who knows? *01:24:30* What a great shot. *01:24:33* How do they fit that many cars in there? *01:24:39* How big is this place? *01:24:42* Look, we you get the call back from the beginning of the movie. *01:24:50* Street Wa Racers of Miami Unite Again Family Community *01:24:57* It's impressive no one crashed. *01:25:22* That's that was my thought process too. *01:25:23* Like dang, there's a lot of cars here. *01:25:25* And none of them have run into the stuff. *01:25:29* Think of how coordinated that shoot had to be. *01:25:31* Yeah. *01:25:33* Lot of stuntmen involved with that. *01:25:35* I wonder if any of like the crew members drove any of these cars, like if anybody on the crew is like *01:25:44* competent at driving enough to maybe drive just a quick cut some of these quick shots here of the cars. *01:25:50* Maybe not the ones where they're shooting around the corners, but *01:25:56* Straight away. *01:26:00* You probably gotta be credentialed or something like that to do that for these movies. *01:26:01* It's probably more than just your regular driver's license. *01:26:06* Or well, maybe. *01:26:12* Because I've heard normal actors sometimes do scenes for Keanu Reeves did all his own driving and um John Wick. *01:26:13* Yeah *01:26:23* But uh he's also was trained. *01:26:25* Yeah, I mean so is like Tom Cruise and all the stuff he does and Tom Cruise is a pilot. *01:26:27* He's flying his own planes and movies. *01:26:33* Mm-hmm. *01:26:37* His own helicopters. *01:26:39* Surrounded *01:26:51* Turns out it's not them. *01:26:56* They totally swapped cars. *01:26:58* I knew they did. *01:26:59* Roman switch shoes *01:27:00* A great line *01:27:07* I just like that they keep cutting back to Bilkins and he says just a couple lines and then they cut back to the *01:27:18* We gotta go back to the base of operations. *01:27:24* And look, now the cars that we won earlier have played in. *01:27:26* I really think this is a more cohesive plot than the first one. *01:27:31* It's tighter. *01:27:34* I mean it's a little bit more uh *01:27:35* Linear and straightforward, yeah, but less character driven for sure. *01:27:38* To a degree. *01:27:44* I don't know. *01:27:45* I think Brian and Roman carry this movie. *01:27:46* They carry it hard. *01:27:48* Yeah, Brian and Roman are the big characters, but I'm saying like the previous movie gave more a screen time probably to like *01:27:49* Dom and Brian and then Letty and I mean the whole main crew mainly. *01:27:57* I will say Ludacris and Suki are in this affair amount though. *01:28:03* But not so much *01:28:08* I don't know, they're in a good amount. *01:28:10* Probably about as much as like Vincent Jesse are in the last film, to be honest. *01:28:12* And who was the other guy's name? *01:28:18* Leon, I think *01:28:20* There was another there was another guy with them. *01:28:22* I think it was Leon. *01:28:24* Yeah, I think Leon is right. *01:28:25* This guy always thinking they're running. *01:28:34* I know this scene. *01:28:48* Oh, I was hoping you didn't know. *01:28:51* And you know this one scene. *01:28:53* Ejecto Ceto Cuz *01:28:55* Check those seat all cuz *01:29:05* I like how the other henchman is hearing all this on the radio and is just not phased. *01:29:23* Ejectosito *01:29:35* I'm wondering how what's her name's arcs gonna end here? *01:29:41* Eva Mendez's character. *01:29:45* Because last time we saw her she was just like, I have friends. *01:29:47* And that's it. *01:29:50* We haven't seen her in like twenty-five minutes since then. *01:29:51* Maybe not that long, but *01:29:56* He's not getting the ejectoceto cuz Ain't no ejectoceto *01:30:12* I know I'll tell you, they're down. *01:30:39* Honestly, I think these are the keys, not Miami. *01:30:42* I think those bridges. *01:30:46* That looks like uh uh where would the keys be? *01:30:47* Is that like more so they're the bottom. *01:30:50* They're the bottom of Florida. *01:30:53* Okay *01:30:54* But I've I think that is the keys. *01:30:55* Um because I think I've been to Tarpon Point or at least have fed Tarpon. *01:30:58* So it's interesting they're framing this as Miami *01:31:05* But I don't think Miami has those long h water highway things. *01:31:09* I think uh Pensacola has some of those. *01:31:14* I've been around there. *01:31:18* I don't know if you've ever been in that *01:31:19* area. *01:31:21* But they've got some of those big long water highways. *01:31:22* There's there's Monica. *01:31:25* She's wearing her belt kind of strangely. *01:31:29* I think it was a 2000s thing. *01:31:32* She's in it's too big for the loops, so it's just sitting on her waist. *01:31:37* Yeah, it's not really it's not really helping to keep your pants up at that point. *01:31:41* If anything, it's pushing them down. *01:31:45* She getting shot dun dun dun *01:32:09* Pulls up the shotgun the left for dead automatic shotgun whips it right out *01:32:35* That's what it looks like at least. *01:32:45* Now we look like we're in the Oh, what were what are those plants called? *01:32:56* Mangroves. *01:33:04* Near the mangroves. *01:33:05* You're asking me like I would know. *01:33:10* I g like I'm a a fellow man of Florida. *01:33:12* That one area I mentioned is about the only place I've ever been. *01:33:16* Pentacola area. *01:33:19* End of the road. *01:33:21* What a line. *01:33:22* Ejecto Cetocause. *01:33:24* It's Barstow, baby. *01:33:42* Please tell me they ramp a car into this boat. *01:33:49* Please tell me they ramp a car into the boat. *01:33:52* You gotta watch the movie, dude. *01:33:55* Please tell me this is the beginning of car jumps. *01:33:59* I mean I guess technically the start of this movie is the beginning of car jumps. *01:34:02* And better yet, I guess the them jumping in front of a train is the beginning of the car jumps, but *01:34:06* This guy will not go down. *01:34:16* It's the mole that gives him his strength. *01:34:18* Jeez. *01:34:21* Do you like how he's waving? *01:34:30* Wave him from the boat. *01:34:34* He's gotta be a villain. *01:34:35* He really kind of hams up his villainy too. *01:34:36* Kick out the windshield, baby. *01:34:40* Let's go. *01:34:43* Put it downstairs. *01:35:04* Downstairs. *01:35:06* He sounds *01:35:07* He's a mean man *01:35:12* They are gonna jump the car good. *01:35:39* This is a cinema. *01:35:43* This is true f this is true cinema. *01:35:56* Excellent. *01:36:03* All a real effect. *01:36:05* They really timed that jump. *01:36:07* Please ignore the CG that you saw. *01:36:10* They're they're selling their injuries like they're wrestlers right now. *01:36:22* You notice their seat belts though? *01:36:25* They have harnesses on. *01:36:27* Not the shoulder seat. *01:36:29* Yeah, yeah, yeah. *01:36:30* I saw him wearing those in the *01:36:31* In the Stone Cold The opening race *01:36:38* She's gonna get him. *01:36:43* She's gonna say you're under arrest. *01:36:46* I gotcha *01:36:51* There you go. *01:37:08* The villain is caught. *01:37:12* I thought there was maybe gonna be some sort of big shootout on this boat, and then I realized that this is a carm film and not a shootout film. *01:37:15* Mm-hmm *01:37:24* This is not I mean that's a car on a boat. *01:37:30* I mean they put a car on a boat, yes. *01:37:33* They definitely did. *01:37:35* Now did they jump one onto a boat? *01:37:36* I don't know *01:37:39* Blew my mind as a child. *01:37:43* That they did that? *01:37:46* Yeah. *01:37:48* What'll be the resolution here? *01:38:07* Is he gonna say, hey, I got some friends out west? *01:38:10* His watch *01:38:14* That's his way of making amends for him opening fire on him. *01:38:35* I like how *01:38:41* I I like how Roman's plan was if they didn't wipe his record clean, he was gonna have three bags of money. *01:38:42* They should make him the final villain of fast eleven or whatever it is. *01:38:56* Have him come back. *01:39:04* Is the true mastermind. *01:39:06* He has not returned, unfortunately. *01:39:09* We gotta wrap this movie up quick. *01:39:30* See a professional there *01:39:35* That look back, that lingering stare. *01:39:46* Dominic Toretto is gonna come out of the shadows. *01:40:06* I'd like to talk to you about the Fast and the Furious initiative. *01:40:08* It's time to bump it up. *01:40:27* They kept a little for themselves. *01:40:29* There you go. *01:40:34* Directed by Jesus. *01:40:37* Too fast, too furious. *01:40:40* Well there we go. *01:40:42* That was the one that I thought would be uh *01:40:43* Hard to watch potentially, because it's the one that everybody acts as like the black sheep of the series, and I can see why, I guess, because Dom's on in it and stuff. *01:40:47* Yeah, yeah, it's neither is like the rest of the primary cast. *01:40:58* So Yeah, and it's *01:41:03* The way we're watching all of these, it'll be interesting for you because you're not. *01:41:06* Because I'm going fast and curious next, right? *01:41:10* Yeah. *01:41:12* Yes. *01:41:13* And you won't see Tokyo Drift. *01:41:13* Like you're watching *01:41:16* Three more movies before you see Tokyo Drift, I think. *01:41:19* Yeah. *01:41:21* Um I have to ask, does hi his uh Eva Mendez showed back up again? *01:41:22* Do you want the answer to that? *01:41:27* Uh I I feel like she hasn't, like to my knowledge. *01:41:29* She has. *01:41:34* Okay. *01:41:35* Interesting. *01:41:35* Even Mendes returns. *01:41:36* Okay. *01:41:38* That'll be interesting. *01:41:40* Cause yeah, she's like a notable enough actress in these films and her the way she her character ends here, they kinda could set it up for her to return one day, but I didn't know if she did or not, so *01:41:41* No. *01:41:51* Okay. *01:41:52* No, she does return. *01:41:52* So yeah, you've you've got the you're you're on your way to being a part of the family and now *01:41:54* Now we get into some crazy stuff. *01:42:03* You're the leap the leap between what you're gonna see next is pretty interesting. *01:42:06* Like I said, I have seen Tokyo Drift, I believe, but uh Yeah *01:42:11* It's it was a long time ago. *01:42:15* It was quite a long time ago, so uh Yeah. *01:42:17* So I know we're not watching Tokyo Drift next, but I'm saying like *01:42:21* I have seen the progression now from this to this one this one to Tokyo Drift, so I'll I kinda understand what comes after that with Fast and Furious, which I'm *01:42:24* Curious to watch because I don't hear a lot of people ever talk about that movie, other than it being, oh, it's the one where they got them back together. *01:42:32* And that's about the only thing people say about it. *01:42:40* And then fast five I know. *01:42:43* Yeah. *01:42:47* Uh I mean you're gonna close us out here, but yeah, our we'll have our full episode on this that we'll talk about here too. *01:42:48* I mean that'll be live *01:42:55* At the time you're watching this, if you're listening to this commentary so you can check that out. *01:42:56* Um Yeah. *01:43:00* Yeah, just wanted to say thank you to our members for supporting the show and you know, listening along as we watch the Too Fast, Too Furious together. *01:43:02* If you want, you can follow the show on Twitter at Chapter Select. *01:43:10* You can follow Logan on Twitter at Moreman12 in his writing over at comicbook. *01:43:14* com. *01:43:18* And then you can follow myself on Twitter at Max Roberts143 and my writing over at maxfrequency. *01:43:19* net. *01:43:25* And like Logan said. *01:43:26* Check out the episode of Too Fast, Too Furious if you haven't already, and the rest of season four, which is all about the Fast and the Furious. *01:43:28* Uh thanks so much for trying out this commentary with us. *01:43:35* Um I had a lot of fun watching with you, Logan. *01:43:38* Yeah, hopefully that this was uh *01:43:40* This was entertaining for those who may have listened to this because this is the first time we've done anything like this. *01:43:42* So hopefully it was enjoyable for you if you happen to listen and watch along with us. *01:43:46* Yeah, so thank you all very much, and until next time. *01:43:52* Adios. *01:43:55*
