*00:00* Um so like there was a lot of great opportunities happening all at once and then um kind of funny offered me the job. *00:00* He's a very phone heavy guy, he calls people. *00:00* uh in instead of texting it uh to you. *00:00* It's nice to get a a Tim Geddes phone call here and there. *00:00* and then breaking away for maybe a day and then coming back and then having a little bit more of that puzzle figured out and then com and then breaking up and coming back again *00:00* Him and I talked about it in in detail and we kind of figured it out. *00:00* how professional kind of funny gets. *00:00* the back end of everything and uh the way that we do business is is is rather professional, which is something that I I was a little bit surprised. *00:00* I would think the scale of just the the the content that you you produce and cover and the companies that you work with, like you there you do uh th the whole crew really does put off this um dumpster truck *00:00* uh the way that we upload videos and the way that we segment things. *00:00* It was it wasn't like hey here's a job offer immediately. *00:00* I don't know your specific upload and edit schedule for everything, but like would you if COVID wasn't necessarily a thing, would you have *00:00* I mean they rhyme, right? *00:00* uh if you could even call it that of just, you know, team building and just being there with people and that's a completely different the *00:00* The serendipity of like being in person. *00:00* stuff. *00:00* the studio above the comic shop. *00:00* you know, COVID and all that stuff. *00:00* So I put my internet on your situation and think it's miserable, but apparently you have great internet. *00:00* I'm on I'm on West Coast time right now. *00:00* And he texts me and my boss at eight o'clock in the morning our time, which is five in the morning for my boss. *00:00* So that was a that was a lesson to learn is something it's something. *00:00* I feel like exporting should be the least nervous time of the Yes of the edit. *00:00* I think branding is a huge part of this. *00:00* that gets a lot of people in. *00:00* Um like even Da Vinci like has a weird, really weird uh way of doing things. *00:00* My renders are still taking like an hour plus and I have 64GB of RAM. *00:00* Like I I have like uh I have I've the some of the best stuff you can ever get and then yeah at least in this in this range of of video editing and this is the stuff that they recommend you get and it still doesn't work well. *00:00* Right. *00:00* So it's like whatever one fourth of four ADP is, I'm watching. *00:00* By the way, this is the this is the closest we've ever cut it with a blessing show episode. *00:00* conceivably should be very very simple in terms of like the planning that I put into it. *00:00* what I imagine, you know, is these Apple fanboys, you know what I mean? *00:00* the professional end, you know, twenty thousand, thirty thousand dollar screens. *00:00* Um so then it just brings you to After Effects so that you can do all your work at After Effects. *00:00* Um so it's it's a bit of a it's a bit of a gamble. *00:00* Which is um which is annoying. *00:00* I mean it is visual, but it's a different type of visual learner. *00:00* So like it it's it's not a bad um translation. *00:00* I would totally be down, but I think I'm just like I'm like an old man at this point. *00:00* cost me like thirty five bucks a month, so that's how I feel with something like TikTok. *00:00* And then my and then Abby, Abby is like all over TikTok. *00:00* I think it was her phone or whatever. *00:00* I said Abby. *00:00* E3's information leak this year. *00:00* A few years ago, I want to say twenty eighteen, Bloomberg posted an article called like The Big Hack or something. *00:00* that there were a bunch of like tiny microchips implanted on Apple, Amazon, Google servers around the world. *00:00* the amount of money I could put into a PC. *00:00* uh they're switching their whole lineup here within the next year and a half to their own processors. *00:00* one day you'll wake up and they'll have like the M M three or whatever in a in a Mac Pro and it'll y the the scales will fall from your eyes and you'll see the light. *00:00* But I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised if something's like. *00:00* You know, I feel like ever since uh the passing of Steve Jobs, people have always been like, they haven't been original, they haven't been doing anything new. *00:00* performance and things like that. *00:00* It's it's interesting and I'm I'm I'm always looking out for it and I I'm always um we're my type of family at least. *00:00* If they were able to have that ecosystem that I could be like, okay, like I I don't feel like I'm missing out on PC stuff, then I would go over. *00:00* I actually don't know if you can go buy it like in a store like you used to. *00:00* Think about it. *00:00* I am always hounding you for Sam Fisher content. *00:00* Boom. *00:00* And he's telling he's he's telling Michael B. *00:00* Ever it doesn't make any sense. *00:00* the regular voice actors, like you know, how you can do in animated things, but apparently they're like, nope, we gotta we gotta be so realistic with this. *00:00* You know, I don't know, like, you know, like there's there's terrorists and there's bombs and there's th you know, all these peop people stole steal oil or something. *00:00* And like that, I feel like there's just a lot of potential for a game like this and just in general for Stealth, like Stealth is kind of having a bit of renaissance here and there, and I don't think it's a dead genre whatsoever. *00:00* Yeah, it's And it's a amazing. *00:00* It's weird. *00:00* Like why why are you going to prioritize a game like even beyond two souls? *00:00* Asking like Jeff Grubb's comments and things like that. *00:00* I I think I would want like a true open world experience um if they were to do anything other than linear. *00:00* Right? *00:00* a hitman game for sure. *00:00* I still have my PS2 copies of the first game and Pandora tomorrow. *00:00* Oh yeah, it's the Spawner Cell three D. *00:00* There's um the PSP um Splinter Cell was it black uh was it something it was like uh let me see if I can find it. *00:00* Might replay it. *00:00* And like and like Switch. *00:00* On a serious note, I mean, if you if you play one you finish one and you you enjoy it, two is excellent. *00:00* Uh playing Kingdom Hearts 3, you know, after waiting so long for that game, it really is a PS2 game at its core. *00:00* And it's just good. *00:00* You know, d it's t the heart of Kingdom Hearts is is remained strong for for all these years. *00:00* It's it's it's it hayley Joel. *00:00* So I've been playing uh very it's almost like whiplash, I've been playing a lot of Kingdom Hearts and then I go into the Sopranos. *00:00* Which is great. *00:00* Was it Call of Duty or God of War? *00:00* and you're just like, hey, I want to slice some dudes in half. *00:00* Yeah. *00:00* Uh fam, she plays she has a thousand hours plus an Animal Crossing. *00:00* She asked, she was like, hey, are am I gonna get like jumped leaving the store? *00:00* Just please pick these up. *00:00* Um so sh but she also her and I have been playing a lot of Fortnite recently. *00:00* Uh yeah Uncharted 1 is is is is difficult to go to if it's your first time. *00:00* The day after Christmas is one of the best Christmases ever. *00:00* So like we would stand the one time a week that we see each other playing uncharted and for like a good two weeks until it we finally were able to finish it. *00:00* Three was a a moment. *00:00* them. *00:00* Uh you f they fall into the water and Nathan's like, Hey, are you okay, uh Lena? *00:00* Just it was just also like, oh the yeah, that's true. *00:00* She was actually a a wonderful trooper when part two came out. *00:00* It honestly on the nose at the ending for my taste, but it's a few. *00:00* The first of Persona 5. *00:00* Uh I feel like I wish I had more mom and cop uh mom and grot pop shops. *00:00* And then Easter happened and they mentioned the thieves uh at church. *00:00* She's like she's gonna be a little bit more. *00:00* the the the the Jason game what's that what's like uh uh um Friday the 13th it's Friday the 13th Jesus I'm just this is how this is how corrupted my brain is I just said fr *00:00* Nope. *00:00* Yeah. *00:00* This was a moment I wasn't there for that. *00:00* And yeah, that it's it's very true. *00:00* the fact that, you know, it doesn't end, it doesn't it doesn't take doesn't become like a depressing depressing game like lots of us do it it become it's still it has that storybook ending which I which I really appreciated that they suck their guns to. *00:00* The fact that a ca the studio that made Last of Us was able to be like, okay, we know that what this game is, we're gonna continue with it, and we're gonna be very truthful to it, and I I really appreciate it that way. *00:00* Honestly. *00:00* Yeah. *00:00* You know, and stuff. *00:00* Roger they go for over a hundred and fifty dollars. *00:00* 3D All-Stars and I bought it I checked at midnight and it was still there. *00:00* But like so like it should have it worked fine, you know what I mean? *00:00* And she's like, I don't think we can sport fifty thousand dollars in video game period. *00:00* I'm I'm a individual. *00:00* uh every week, Monday, I believe at nine AM PST that goes up. *00:00* I get your hue again, what we talked about at the top. *00:00* I don't agree with him, but then I just keep that to myself and go, You're still a cool guy, blessing. *00:00* I met Blessing I think at PAX East. *00:00* Yeah, but like you know, I feel you know I feel in my heart that he's a little shorter. *00:00* I I really I'm gonna edit this out because I really don't remember where the strength was going *00:00* We were going through a bunch of different names and I feel like that was the one that sounded most official and uh most vague. *00:00* I remember an old I think one was like Game Cake. *00:00* Meeting in the middle, see meeting halfway. *00:00* pretty much right like it's it's um it's kind it's kind of funny the video content producer that's the that's what uh Tim and I can came to the conclusion of *00:00* uh just for the for the next gen um uh consoles and things like that. *00:00* I I think that's actually really cool that people not only could tell that there was something different in the product, whether it it's g it was better or worse. *00:00* And the community is full of a bunch of detectives and and people that may have too much time on their hands that they can just speak you know, they can like *00:00* The they can infer I mean, I used to be like that in a in a way. *00:00* Bah ba bah ba this is clearly he means this and you've got your red strain and your your uh cork board and you're you're figuring out and then two weeks later *00:00* Uh I think when the kind of funny like the um the January uh anniversary event was about to happen, I tweeted something like, Oh I'm excited to see what they do. *00:00* like sixteen we've been talking about it like somewhat jokingly in the beginning, but then it got a little bit more serious as as time went on and you know with pandemic times and you know January fourth coming up pretty fast, we were like *00:00* Um, but so I w I was having long periods of droughts of like not having a lot of work to do. *00:00* And I would n I would not have thought him as a call people guy. *00:00* Um but then the time came where uh I was getting an offer or two and then I mentioned it to him and we're like, Okay, like I think it's time for you to come on the team. *00:00* Um so it was a process, but it was it it was great. *00:00* goofing around and just doing stuff. *00:00* So it's interesting to see it like in the first hand point of view. *00:00* What is it I I'm honestly super curious about working remotely. *00:00* They're out obviously in San Francisco. *00:00* The back end of everything, like I can edit videos fine from home. *00:00* w you all do, I think b that is a c can be a key factor in that type of work. *00:00* we can kind of all figure this out together. *00:00* Uh and that's very extraordinarily ri rigid, right? *00:00* um dichotomy of you know, I I can go to my my bosses and and be completely honest and we can figure it out from there. *00:00* I would say not the easiest in the world, like working from home for sure, especially in a creative field and especially in a creative field that I haven't like you know, I I I'm friends of friends with everyone on the team, but I haven't like *00:00* work and, you know, necessity of like who needs to be in the office, who doesn't need to be in the office. *00:00* Everything's f everything's everything's great on that end. *00:00* the thing that uh that is the biggest downfall I feel like from working from home. *00:00* It's okay. *00:00* Yeah, yeah, yeah. *00:00* the working from home situation like time difference and internet speeds are the least of my concern. *00:00* crappy um gaming um laptop that I had earlier that I was running all my edits from. *00:00* So uh I don't know, maybe a month ago, you said you were switching from premiere to resolve. *00:00* Um that workflow is just so nice and I I have not been able to find anything um remotely as good, but *00:00* Uh when I was a teen I was doing stuff in After Effects. *00:00* have like a Photoshop after effects like weird, you know, the way that they're doing things. *00:00* um when you actually get into the nuts and bolts of what this program does. *00:00* has to edit uh he had to edit a um a male uh a super Super Smash Bros melee um highlight video that he did for like a contest. *00:00* and he never had any he n had no idea what he was doing and I walked him through it and it was it was very simple and you you can kind of get your your head around it really fast, more so than I feel like than a lot of other um editing softwares um that are supposed to be for the pro level. *00:00* with Premiere, it just breaks apart to the point where my favorite thing, my favorite thing is when, first of all, in every project that I've ever had, there's always a new thing that breaks apart. *00:00* You Google that exact problem, people have those issues since twenty ten. *00:00* is that these same exact problems have been going on since 2010 and they don't they don't address it. *00:00* But then it's just broken in the core of it. *00:00* Barely. *00:00* And it the upsetting thing is that just Da Vinci just doesn't have a great workflow for after effects. *00:00* in it but I will say I'm sorry if I'm this is just a a random escapade going off all over the place. *00:00* Whatever, it was just a whole nightmare, but that was way easier than me dealing with Premier's crap. *00:00* I really do wish that I could use Final Cut. *00:00* showed his editing process, which, you know, I think to get behind the you know, to see how people do things is fascinating. *00:00* Because so the whole thing is that um with Premiere it's just literally a right click and you do uh attach a dynamic link or whatever *00:00* And uh uh uh if let's say one of those hands comes in a little later early, I can go right back into After Effects, move it, press save, and then it uh uh adapts into Premiere. *00:00* Like seamlessly, which is great. *00:00* Um so it's easy, it's great to have like that back and forth, but the only way for me to do it with um Da Vinci would be for me to export it fully. *00:00* Maybe I'm gonna start doing that. *00:00* It takes me literally five seconds to do something a premiere, which would take me literally twenty minutes in in Da Vinci Resolve when it comes to that stuff. *00:00* how long you've been using the Adobe product. *00:00* Where I have spent a lot of time and then I'm moving to something new and it's just I'm like, but it's so much better this other way. *00:00* For me at least uh i the the actual Da Vinci, like going into into I don't know if you've ever have you played around with DaVinci Resolve at all? *00:00* too dissimilar from Premiere at all. *00:00* We're just gonna go off the deep end. *00:00* I've for the past few years I've just been more conscious about what I'm willing to give tech companies. *00:00* Um but then I just started like I I was very much let like that for a while and even like that in that stage I also downloaded like LastPass *00:00* I cannot imagine my life without a password manager. *00:00* Oh, the person actually broke into her bank account as well. *00:00* than your Facebook account. *00:00* Awesome. *00:00* one of those things that like I feel like identity theft unless it happens to you is so like far fetched sometimes where it's like all right who cares about it. *00:00* at the time was just a dual shocker's like a managing editor. *00:00* The wildest one was, um, for me at least, I mean of course all of them were terrible. *00:00* becoming more of like a focus like on camera stuff and they were eventually gonna do that but it was just like it kind of like pushed them into like oh like now everyone knows like found my Facebook like everyone knows how I look like *00:00* That's terrible. *00:00* She does like girlfriend reviews and one of her favorite games is DiddyCon Racing. *00:00* I'm like it's girlfriend reviews. *00:00* It is it is it is so wild that it wasn't like even a bigger deal. *00:00* that comes up. *00:00* One blog that I read regularly, anytime he cites, you know, a Bloomberg article, he always has um like a footnote every time that says *00:00* But that's interesting. *00:00* Uh yeah, again, not really corroborated and with sources that uh d it's a mess over there. *00:00* departments and completely different authors with editors and things like that. *00:00* and I didn't know anything about if I if I l was uh if I was you, I would think the same thing. *00:00* take ha know that in my heart that I can like take out my graphics card and put in a new one or remove my motherboard if it goes bad or something. *00:00* Um I think that it's just there it's just overpriced in my opinion in terms of like the amount of money I can put into a Mac in terms of *00:00* Along that like line of thinking, I am curious, I don't know how c how closely you follow any of this, but their new M1 processors. *00:00* person in terms of like knowing everything about uh these processors or anything like that, but I do watch a little bit of Linus Tech Dips. *00:00* going in and creating their own silicone. *00:00* But I well I mean Go affordable and Apple don't really go in the same sentence, but you get what I'm saying. *00:00* uh like the high tier performance. *00:00* Um, well what about Verizon? *00:00* a dryer, you know. *00:00* Something that I've I'm I'm I'm friends with uh Yuf Yusuf McGee, uh who works at uh Ubisoft and him and I have a running joke of just like I remember the first time I met him, I like was just like it was right before E3 and I was just like *00:00* some dude uh k uh whatever. *00:00* Um, yeah, no, say it's it's that's what I think. *00:00* Where like like this is the this is the thing that always got away. *00:00* interact with another NPC unless there's some scripted moment I'm probably forgetting. *00:00* For honor, that's that warrior game. *00:00* Right. *00:00* That's kind of been the Ubisoft model, I think maybe outside of the Watchdogs, which were predominantly single player open world games. *00:00* In a world where we are constantly not doing original IPs in anything, and we always bring back things that are dead or semi-dead or just freshly dead, like Dexters becoming back again, like why, sure, whatever I guess. *00:00* Um but like even like a like like um s I'm okay now I'm starting to say a bunch of games that are cancelled. *00:00* It's just annoying to me that it's like it's it's it's they have this franchise right here that people are fond of like even if it isn't like the biggest like success like it sold millions of copies in in uh blacklist like *00:00* It was successful or at least uh noticeable to sell millions of copies. *00:00* And they just can't figure out what they want. *00:00* Yeah. *00:00* They could definitely do DLC chunks later and a big map area with different approaches. *00:00* I think that it needs to be like kind of like that weird hybrid, or it needs to be fully open world. *00:00* created and I love it for that. *00:00* fights and then it's just like the music for way too long and then it's just a weird zoom in on like whoever character did the most damage or whatever it is *00:00* Dumb. *00:00* I I went to the midnight launch. *00:00* For your girlfriend, very sweet of her. *00:00* Uncharted. *00:00* uh on the PS3 that I got for Christmas. *00:00* It was something. *00:00* I feel like a lot of people I talked to actually uh Cam, we just talked about this on the episode I recorded with him, and he was talking about how there's *00:00* Uh he felt there was a lot of that later game that could have been cut, and I I'm just thinking, no, no, that is the game right there. *00:00* all of the stuff on Libertalia is what I'm here for. *00:00* Like the idea of like the pirates fighting each other and then seeing like the whole backstory and how it mirrors what Nathan is going through with Sam and uh it's in *00:00* I want that game. *00:00* Oh my god. *00:00* So she's like obviously she's aware of my love of Uncharted, because I don't I don't shut up about it. *00:00* the rule follower in me is like, they can't do that. *00:00* And I called every single mom and pop place in Maryland and I asked, do you have Persona 5? *00:00* So you're d they're talking about um what is his name is Saint um Dismas. *00:00* Target had like those buy two get one free things. *00:00* Yeah, it's it's interesting though, because I don't know I mean I'm gonna try to play it with my girlfriend Leonza, that's her name. *00:00* What if we put these two people in a game? *00:00* So I want to ask though, so it sounds like After Effects is really kind of the thing keeping you in the Premier Land. *00:00* Export that slash brin it into the Yeah. *00:00* Fusion, which is the like after effects equivalent of DaVinci Resolve, which is also, by the way, I should add, built into DaVinci Resolve and free *00:00* Like which is just like okay like uh cool great but it it's just like it's a I don't do you know anything about nodes like it's a node-based system *00:00* So in literally like I would say five hours from starting to starting booting up Da Vinci for the first time, I was rocking and rolling and I was able to edit an entire video. *00:00* I could get the same results or similar results. *00:00* While it is true that it is a company in China and specifically that app is just it has an incredible algorithm that just seems to really nail what people are interested in, it's incredible, but it's also just taking all of your information and I try *00:00* and like was trying to be a lot more safe. *00:00* No joke. *00:00* How how do you not it on the very least understand that like your bank should have a different password? *00:00* operate like him in any capacity. *00:00* This is like the only thing in my mind. *00:00* every single uh animated movie or TV show now where they have like fight sequences. *00:00* And and then it slowly starts to become like weirdly personal for Sam. *00:00* And uh I think that there's a n uh kind of a want for a big Triple A single player game now. *00:00* Great game, uh most assuredly getting a sequel. *00:00* And they just wanna and Assassin's Creed. *00:00* Like it's just weird that they wouldn't take this chance and it seems like from at least like from like rumors and like what people have said like here and there because sometimes people ask about Spawner Cell like one of one of the twelve people that are fans of it like *00:00* Like in Sly 2, like those open world hubs where you could kind of sneak around and approach and you'd go into a linear level to do whatever you needed to do. *00:00* really satisfied. *00:00* Uh uh it'll to me it'll be like uh when they announce Paper Mario Origami King. *00:00* Or, you know, Xbox One series whatever it's called now. *00:00* It's just fun gameplay, really tight design, I think, but the the story I think is really rich. *00:00* About Kingdom Hearts and that was a whole mess. *00:00* and they were uh taking over his house uh and they were screwing with the internet connection and he couldn't play God of War Ascension. *00:00* You were playing Uncharted. *00:00* Two or oh yeah, I mean I love Uncharted Two, but also a T Uh oh yeah. *00:00* Did you get the cards, the Hello Kitty cards? *00:00* After like 45 minutes, to make it a long story short, I thought, hey, I wonder if the Target in Indiana where my mother lives it *00:00* Some of it's a little stiff. *00:00* And um and it was like I think before that, before you fall in the water, like some ground falls or whatever, as uncharted games happen, the ground falls, you all slide. *00:00* Like like like there's so many explosions and people dying and and things happening in this in this game and the things that stood out to me was in towards the end of the game when uh spoilers I guess for Uncharted 4, uh when you're when you're with a late time. *00:00* Um yeah, no, so th that for me those were the moments that that and like the um when they're going on the elevator and they're looking out and the yeah, like like the very understated moments in like this big action massive gang. *00:00* I I I was dragged by a caravan in uh in Madagascar to get to this. *00:00* Uh this is this is my kind of double standard. *00:00* Um, but he it was his birthday was was it was right before the launch of the game, like three or four days before the launch of the game. *00:00* It's weird to say this, but I was fortunately furloughed at the time. *00:00* It actually really worked out well for me as far as my job and and things. *00:00* Italy uh to do the the first heist for the Chr the cross. *00:00* I I don't like I played like I played the first hour of Ryzen Zero Dawn, didn't like it. *00:00* I replayed the uh all of them last year and uh I platted it. *00:00* There's really strong moments and uh it's fun. *00:00* And including Sam, which we spent like fifteen hours with or whatever. *00:00* And maybe part of that is because you were the one playing it and she wasn't. *00:00* See? *00:00* Hitman hit like that Hitman formula of approach your target from any direction honestly has been a a part of Splinter Cell for years. *00:00* You can go into a a mission in Blacklist and not like no uh enemy *00:00* Most Ubisoft games were launched rough and then over the years turned into something extremely popular. *00:00* Yeah, the I don't I don't know whether the cost you know, of course obviously it costs millions of dollars to make a game like that. *00:00* I I'm saying seven, but I could be totally wrong. *00:00* I am like a detective in the kind of funny community. *00:00* It today, if you playing it for the first time today, it's really tough because it is it's all in one location *00:00* Dude, when I was a child, I had so much time. *00:00* Back to Uncharted, I I decided to just start with four. *00:00* a lot of um goodwill towards Nadine at all. *00:00* And if you don't want me to spoil this, I won't. *00:00* It's one of the th it's the it's really the reason I like Naughty Dog the most is because they put those moments on the controller and in your hand instead of just showing you. *00:00* hits harder for people that have it almost sounds unfair to say it's like I was here first. *00:00* That's uncharted related. *00:00* D I I'm Roger, I sat Abby down tonight with a spreadsheet and said, these are the games on PS3 and Vita I need to buy. *00:00* I feel like if I was choosing a serial mascot, I probably would have chosen Tony the Tiger, probably. *00:00* Well, if any of that just follow his mentions if it happens, it happens. *00:00* the the size of the files that you have to deal with. *00:00* Why?
