# The Last of Us Part I and Part II Scripts Book Announced [‘The Last of Us’ Video Game Scripts to Be Released in New Book From Creator Naughty Dog, Dark Horse (EXCLUSIVE)](https://variety.com/2025/gaming/news/the-last-of-us-book-scripts-video-game-1236468201/) from Variety > "These scripts, written during the games’ development, were meant to guide our team as we brought that world to life. They were never intended for public view — until now." I'm so screwed. I want more developers to publish books like this. I am reminded of *[The Making of Prince of Persia: Journals 1985-1993](https://amzn.to/4lEqwwu)*. That is [[Some Things Never Change|one of the greats]] in behind-the-scenes development and the creative process. I hope this script book also offers annotations and insights. I want scans, handwritten notes, and more. I hope it isn't a clinical reproduction of the stories as pure scripts. With the existence of this book, the rebranded bundle of Part I and Part II as *[The Last of Us: Complete](https://youtube.com/watch?v=AE67zDoBd7s)* and [Neil's departure from the HBO show](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/neil-druckmann-exit-hbo-the-last-of-us-1236304898/), I think Naughty Dog is essentially done with *The Last of Us*. And by that, I mean done making games. They'll still milk the IP for all it is worth. That new [Chronological Mode](https://blog.playstation.com/2025/07/08/introducing-the-last-of-us-part-ii-remastered-chronological-experience-out-today/) does sound neat. If you want to pre-order the book like me, maybe use this [affiliate link](https://amzn.to/4fazTll)? It doesn't cost you any extra and throws some amount of commission my way. I'd appreciate it. If not, here's a good ol' fashioned [non-affiliate link](https://www.amazon.com/dp/1506751326). Also, how sick is the script book cover? ![image](https://d2lzb5v10mb0lj.cloudfront.net/darkhorse/blog/-2025/TLOUScriptBooks.png)
