September 28, 2026

Yesterday marked the last familial birthday in September with my now four-year-old daughter Eloise! We had perfect weather for the outdoor party with a waterslide. The kids loved it and if they were anything like Eloise afterward, they all napped and slept well. It is my greatest joy, privilege, and honor to be her dad. It was an all-timer weekend.
This also marked the year that we are introducing Eloise to video games she can play herself. We wrapped up a NES and put a tiny CRT in the living room. She seemed quite excited, but struggled when it got hard or didn't go her way. We played Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, and Donkey Kong (on the MiSTer). I hope she likes them. 😅
Another excellent week of blogging with my favorites being The Future of Bungie and Marathon and Googlebook Appears to be as Unopinionated as its Name Implies.
I know last week I said that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was a long RPG and I probably will play a shorter game alongside it, but then I made some trades and picked up Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave sooooooooooo...
I stopped trying to sell for the Duo. It's not the time or the right budgetary thing to do. On day I suspect my phone will fold though.
The weather is finally cooling down and I am getting excited to deep fry some turkey in a couple of months.
