# Reviews for Apple's New Camera [iPhone 17 Pro Camera Review: Dolomite Mountains](https://www.austinmann.com/trek/iphone-17-pro-camera-review-dolomites) by Austin Mann [iPhone 17 Pro Camera Review: Rule of Three](https://www.lux.camera/iphone-17-pro-camera-review-rule-of-three/) by Lux The reviews that matter the most to me when it comes to the iPhone. I can always never believe that these photos came from a phone. I think far too much about that exchange between John Gruber and Phil Schiller at [The Talk Show Live From WWDC 2015](https://vimeo.com/130510366); > **Gruber:** "I've been thinking, and I think it's so clear—and the Shot with iPhone marketing campaign shows that you guys clearly believe it, too—but Apple has become one of, if not _the_ leading camera companies in the world. > > **Schiller:** _The._ > *Cheers.* Austin Mann made me look at Photographic Styles. I always considered them to be baked-in filters, but Mann *taught* me what they are and do. > "Over the last year I’ve found myself using ProRAW less because I’m constantly impressed by the power and flexibility of Photographic Styles. They are so much more than filters. Semantically aware, they adjust different elements of the image in different ways." Also, only Austin would look at the new [Crossbody Strap](https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MGGH4LL/A/crossbody-strap-light-blue) and think of it first as a camera strap. > "I was curious to try the new “Crossbody” camera strap. The texture is super smooth and it slides easily over the shoulder." The team at Lux was impressed with the 8x zoom/crop: so impressed that if I had this phone, I'd pay attention and intentionally use it. > "The overall experience of shooting a lens this long should not be this good. I've not seen it mentioned in reviews, but the matter of keeping a 200mm lens somehow steady and not an exercise in tremendous frustration is astonishing." What's encouraging as both a reader and a maker is the way tools like this provide the opportunity to stretch my own creativity. > "I mentioned it before, but I want to reiterate it because it's such a fun creative exercise for anyone with this phone: I believe that the longer the lens, the more of your skills in creating beautiful compositions and photos will be challenged. It's just not that easy — but it also means you suddenly find different beautiful photos in what was previously a single frame..." If you are upgrading to the 17 Pro phones this year, I think you will be in for a treat.
