# Predicting Analogue's Annual Announcement for 2025 October 16 is just around the corner, which means Analogue is going to announce something new. In the hopes of winning some Internet points, I thought I'd try to predict what next week's announcement will be. It'll be a PlayStation. To me, this is the obvious next console from the prestigious company. They threw us a curve ball with the Duo, but if you combine the power behind the [[Analogue3D Preview|Analogue 3D]] and the disc drive of the Duo, I think we get a world where they tap into the "Power of PlayStation." There has been a MiSTer PS1 FPGA core for quite sometime now, so we know it is possible and can be done well. Of course, there is the [SuperStationᵒⁿᵉ](https://retroremake.co/pages/superstationᵒⁿᵉ) which comes in good colors and runs folks around $200. I have been mighty tempted to buy the Transparent Blue model since its reveal. Now, Analogue *could* through another proverbial curveball and do a Sega Saturn or a Dreamcast. Those feel like consoles they would want to make and concoct pretentious marketing for. The hopeful consumer in me could imagine a world with new Super NT and Mega SG variants, but I doubt it. The PlayStation feels like the natural next step for the company. If they do go this route, I'd speculate 4K support and their loftily promised Original Display Modes. Once you offer 4K, I don't think you can go back. There'd be Memory Card support, disc support, and DualShock support. If they could support Light Guns and the iconic PSone LCD, that'd be sick. Both of those would require a built-in DAC with analog video out, if they want to offer compatibility with original accessories. They could also go the 8BitDo route and offer a digital solution like [G‘AIM’E Gun](https://www.mygaime.com/product-tcgun), [Sinden Lightgun](https://sindenlightgun.com), or the long promised [Polymega GC01](https://polymega.com/products/gc01-retro-gun-controller). Speaking of 8BitDo, it'd be nice to see the company *finally* tackle a DualShock-style controller. Whatever they announce next week, I do hope a ship date for the Analogue 3D is a part of the message. We shall find out soon. Now that I've written all this out, it'll just be some update on Pocket supply or something.[^1] And for the record, here is a list of the announcements from the last decade. - [2024](https://x.com/analogue/status/1846567133788147838) - A full blown reveal of the Analogue 3D - [2023](https://x.com/analogue/status/1713933239327273452) - A tease of the Analogue 3D - [2022](https://x.com/analogue/status/1581661660728950784) - Updates on Pocket shipments, Pocket Cartridge Adapters, and finals runs for the Super NT and Mega SG. - [2021](https://x.com/analogue/status/1449389698493861888) - A reveal of [[Analogue OS Preview|Analogue OS]] - [2020](https://x.com/analogue/status/1317118116678094860) - A reveal of the Analogue Duo - [2019](https://x.com/analogue/status/1184484202772926466) - A reveal of the Analogue Pocket - [2018](https://x.com/analogue/status/1052212620705509376) - A reveal of the Mega SG - [2017](https://x.com/analogue/status/919941034934546432) - A reveal of the Super NT And then the following weren't announced on October 16, 2016, but were still annual reveals. - [2016](https://www.polygon.com/2016/8/22/12581936/aluminum-nes-analogue-nt-mini-pre-order/) - A reveal of the Nt mini - 2015 - Seems like that is when the Analogue Nt was released. - [2014](https://www.theverge.com/2014/3/13/5502764/analogue-nt-nes-reimagined-in-a-block-of-solid-aluminum) - A reveal of the Analogue Nt [^1]: In researching this post, I noticed that the Pocket is out of stock. Slightly surprised, since it has maintained stock fairly well.
