# Pocket Codex is a Classic Guide User's Dream [Pocket Codex Website](https://www.pocketcodex.app) / [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pocket-codex-guides/id6754950382) <div class=iframe-container> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/RO7-lkFfrKA?si=yN8_zfv1eOJIZVND" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> </div> A simple, but useful app for those of us that prefer a plain-text guide with beautiful ASCII art over the wiki guides and videos of today. Whenever I play classics, I always turn to GameFAQs and its treasure trove of guides before anywhere else. I find it adds authenticity to the experience. There's a cultural texture to using a guide that's [[Super Metroid#Miscellaneous|mere kilobytes in size]]. Pocket Codex let's you download guides straight from GameFAQs, saves you place in them (which alone is worth the download), and syncs them across your iOS devices. You can also add PDFs and HTML-based guides. It's dead simple and focused in its utility. This is an app my dad and his printer ink wishes I had as a kid.
