Avatar: Seven Havens is Indeed Very, Very Good
The first three episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens released on Friday and I finished up the bundle last night. I am so very pleased to report that the show is excellent. The team there at Avatar Studios has not lost the sauce.
It was filled with charm, stakes, maturity, grace, comedy, and a whole lot of bending. What a treat to be back in the world and in a powerful way. I was stunned at the end of Chapter 1: On the Horizon. Full blown surprised and I am so glad.
Friday, Paramount/Viacom/Skydance/whatever-mega-studio announced at New York Comic-Con that Seven Havens was renewed for Books 3 and 4. What a turn around from The Legend of Korra having mismanaged and unsure timelines. The team can focus on crafting a story and drama that can "sustain a series."
The next series was also announced—Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos—which is focusing on the Water Tribe Avatar three cycles before Aang. Here's the pitch for that show:
"A rebellious teenage Avatar bucks thousands of years of tradition by choosing to learn the four elements through globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic spirits – all while helping the world in his own unique ways."
The concept art for that show looks like what you'd hope from an Avatar series.

I am excited for the future of Avatar in a way that I haven't been since Korra debuted in April 2012. It's good to be back in the four nations, or should I now say the Seven Havens?
