Summary

By using the power of cathode ray tubes, players take aim with the Zapper and shoot ducks. An iconic example that brought that arcade-y peripheral experience into the home. The dog's expressions convey much meaning and sass.

Acquisition

I own the Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt cartridge. I didn't know how to combine the two into one note, so here we are. That dual cart is one that just seems to materialize in people's collection though. I have no recollection of when or how I got it, but I have it nonetheless.

Memories

My dad on June 18, 1999 with his NES. I found these photos at some point and immediately hung them up. A wonderful reminder that the apple does not fall far from the tree.

After becoming neighbors, at some point we busted out Duck Hunt in my office. He was not as sharp as a shooter as he remembers. πŸ˜‚

I remember a local game shop having a contest where folks had to stand at a certain line and reach the high score in Duck Hunt for a gift card.

While not strictly Duck Hunt related, I remember my cousin giving me a projector gun toy that threw up projections of ducks for you to shoot with the attached light gun. Clearly inspired by the game. I remember playing in the laundry room, because it was the darkest room I could use in the house.

The "got a duck" sound is my ringtone for new email notifications...if the sound was ever turned on on my phone.
