Capcom's action and horror gameplay mash up like never before with the split campaign of Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy. Flexible perspectives and scenarios makes for a nostalgic, celebratory title. It felt more like a "cover album" to me though than a "Greatest Hits" sort of compilation.

I think Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a more apt ND comparison. Requiem is a greatest hits of the RE series.
I think the Grace half is de facto better. Cool

Graphics/Performance

Debut PSSR 2.0 title and seems worthy of the upgrade. This is the reason to finally own a PS5 Pro.
The fusion of first- and third-person fits like a glove.
4K60 with ray tracing? Mark Cerny’s dream realized.
There’s this animation Grace does where she does a little toss of the flashlight when leaving ADS (aim down sights). Oh my Lord is it slick.
Pools of blood leave bloody footprints. Amazinggggggg

Gameplay

“Equip Requiem” is 10/10
Grace first-person horror excels so far. Loving the energy.
It’s amazing how satisfying the loop of run, avoid, collect, kill is. I love the adventure game style collectibles to solve problems and open caches. It’s exploration and puzzle solving in sublime fashion.
There’s a blood crafting mechanic. Can’t make this up. Combine blood with scrap metal to make bullets and more. Only RE baby.
I wonder if there will be any Code Veronica style “do this as Grace, and it impacts Leon” or vice versa. I suppose already with Requiem ammo from the tutorial...
- Object/item permanence a la Code Veronica and Zero. Blood pools stay, unpicked items appear to stay.
- So the hospital when I take control of Leon is after Grace. So I am curious what I can and can’t do.
The warped wood is for Leon to kick, mark my words.

Very “on the stick” design. Grace for horror. Leon for action. Leon ain’t sacred, so make a new character that is. Who you play defines your posture, attitude, etc.

In RC, we have a kill tracker that makes money. We are full action RE now.

Why are Leon’s footsteps so heavy?!
“Leon is at his limit. Sudden bursts of coughing...” and you can’t do anything about it. And of course, the bouts will happen only in combat.

I wish I had proper surround sound. Makes me wish for the living room setup out in my studio.

World

Rhode Hills Care Facility is where Doctor Gideon does his wacky experiments. Very classic RE type facility.
RACCOON CITY
- Open-ish. TLOUPII Seattle is a comparison I heard.
  - Feels kinda padded/empty? I’m getting lost-ish. Long hallways not satisfying. Kinda like they tried the RE formula but it is too spread out.
  - “That took longer than expected.”
- I popped off in a subway station that matches the one in RE3. Jill, please appear.
- RPD is nice. Wish there was a smidge more, but nice to go back.
ARK Research Facility

Story

Mysterious deaths of Raccoon City survivors. An FBI agent Grace Ashcroft was sent to investigate. Leon is on the case too.
MASTER SPENCER MENTIONED. I knew he would, but still gooooooood.
Grace’s mom was murdered, but unsure why.
Leon and Grace are at the care facility at the same time. Grace is the star so far and is escaping. She finds a blind girl named Emily and uses her to escape.
Leon and Sherry are infected with T-Virus. Gideon claims he has/knows the cure.
Emily dies and transforms into a monster. Grace does not handle this well as Leon kills her.
Back to Raccoon City babyyyyy!
Some dude wants Spencer’s last virus. Grace is the key. Mr. X is back!
Don’t love Grace being sidelined for so long.
I am tired of Chris being a final act show up.
