Summary

A young lad sets out on a quest to save his younger sister after she is the next in a string of abductions. Mystery and magic quickly swirl around the boy as an ancient tale comes to life in unexpected ways. Set sail on the open ocean to explore the world in, let's be honest, the best one.

Acquisition

I bought this at a GameStop sometime before Circuit City went out of business in March 2009. I think we were visiting the States or had just moved back, so it would have been 2008ish. It was on a little stand near the register and was exactly what I was went in there to find. Why the Circuit City detail? Because GameStop did not have a GameCube Game Boy Advance cable, which I had to have so I could use the Tingle Tuner. I found one in the back corner of a Circuit City.

Memories

The older I get, the foggier my origins with this one become. I found a note that said I bought the game for $13, but my brain says it was $18. Did I play Phantom Hourglass first? I think so?

What I do remember is being obsessed with the Detstar page for Wind Waker. I poured over those pages, images, and maps. I vividly remember the actual picking up of the game (just no the price apparently 😅). I remember being swept away on a grand adventure. There is no other game quite like Wind Waker in its sense of isolation, exploration, and discovery. It will always be my first mainline Zelda game and I will cherish it always.
