Developer: Intelligent Systems
Publisher: Nintendo
Platform: Wii
Release: April 9, 2007
Summary
The oddest Paper Mario of the series. The 2D to 3D mechanic is novel and was exciting as a kid, but the approach turned the core gameplay into an light action platformer and not a turn-based RPG. It's humor feels "meme-y" and contextual, not timeless.
Acquisition
Bought it at a local mom and pop for Chapter Select Season 1 - Paper Mario for far too much money and a Nintendo Selects version. I must have really needed it.
Memories
I am fairly sure I borrowed this game in high school, but never beat it. Perhaps I am confusing it with Paper Mario: Sticker Star, but I did play this game before I bought it for myself in 2021.
For Chapter Select, I played on my Wii and my CRT back in our second apartment. It was nice to have that authentic experience.
